Looks to me like he got the slightest of touches, but what he does do is stop Foden from getting a strike on the ball with the follow through, it could be argued that with that smallest of touches, Foden would/could have still got a strike on target had he not, I thought they'd decided (probably changed it since) that in those circumstances, a foul would be given ?

Still livid from the time we played Arsenal away, Fowler was going to be clean through, Sol Campbell gets the merest of touches on the ball, but goes on to wipe Fowler clean out, if he hadn't, Fowler would still have been in on goal, and yet, because of that slight touch, it was deemed a legal tackle, no red etc etc.

PS, it is one of those that you wouldn't like being given against you though.

It is a legal and fair/great tackle dependant on the teams involved.

Do it on Mane however and its a nailed on penalty as the defender just cant lunge in and go to ground like that, its reckless.

Do it on Foden and its a great tackle, not enough contact, nothing in it.

They have it sewn up within the vagaries of the laws and narratives they surround them with.

If you want motd to focus on a part of the game, your manager when interviewed by the bbc should highlight it and be very angry! Bacon was an expert on this! Keep highlighting them and then referees who are human will eventual be subliminally manipulated into turning there blatant bait into being fair and incidents like the Foden pen will be given! We have to play the game Pep has to play the game or will continually be shat on!!

Its a penalty, Its a tackle from behind, even if he got a slight touch he came through the back of Foden, anywhere else on the pitch (or Anfield (if wearing red)) its a foul

It annoys me when people say 'he got a touch on the ball' as though that makes all the difference. In this case by coming in at the angle he did he only got a touch on the ball by making contact with Fodens leg first which means the foul was committed before any touch on the ball.

EXACTLY!! It was given for the dippers on Mane by a Spurs defender, and he was heading away from goal!!!!!!

Thats because he felt contact, however slight and has every right to go down.

Clever play, very intelligent and he gave the ref no option.........................

Those tackles, I think, where man and ball are tackled together, with a defender getting the merest of touches, are in the same VARce category of a player being the merest smidgeon offside! The offside is given but the fuckin' foul is deemed a good tackle!

Not every bit of contact should be deemed as a foul and a penalty, anywhere else on the pitch the challenge is irrelevant, too many players now trying to con the refs by just falling over when they lose the ball or are looking to get an undeserved penalty.
