Shaky as fuck for the first few minutes, but a direct run from midfield split us open and they were off to the races.
Two questions:
1) Why did Stones race out to Tielemans, when it was clear he wasn’t going to get there?
2) Where was the midfielder (Gundo?!) who should have been marking him?
Without Ortega, it would have been 2-0 within the first 2 minutes, with the corner only not going on by about 2cm!
3/4 possession, as usual, but doing NOTHING with it, unless Grealish breaks past Cash, then done on the break! We also have about 8:1 possession inside the opponents 30, but we seem incapable of creating a chance of any serious kind.
We need a goal, from anywhere, to lift the lads, because all huff and puff for nothing is demoralizing. We are not playing badly, we are just shuffling the ball around without any penetration or serious threat…and that is the problem…NO SERIOUS THREAT…even though we have the best striker the Premier League has ever seen playing for us!
McGinn, Onana, Tielemans, Rogers & Kamara across the park are snuffing out any serious threat then breaking like maniacs against a virtually non-existent defensive midfield shell.
We are “nearly men” at the moment, because we are not playing badly, just not playing strongly.
Walker for Stones isn’t going to help anything other possibly catching a runner…maybe!!
