Match Thread | Aston Villa vs. Manchester City (26/10/25)

The downside of being so dominant early on is that it’s blindingly obvious to the opposition manger and he was bound to change something

I’m not sophisticated to know what that change is/was but they obviously changed something

I expect Villa to tire out in the second half, hopefully we don't also tire out.

We are good on our day but our overall softness throughout the squad will always invite a battle from worse teams that are up for a tackle.

Arsenal get through these kinds of games because they have players that are up for the fight

We battled we got pulled up by Oliver seems some referees let stuff go but we ain’t allowed to battler one on one where the Villa player then just falls over

Was saying exactly this to a mate last night. It’s not just Villa, it’s everyone and it’s bloody annoying. Brighton played like men possessed in that 2nd half against us; against United yesterday, apart from 10 minutes late on it was like they were already mentally in the pub.

We seem to have this effect on other teams where they raise their game but what’s more frustrating is we don’t seem to know what to do about it.
It’s the City effect everyone is desperate to beat us we aren’t the champions but we are still that team every other team wants to beat..

It’s all about the players.

Unless cherki/tiny or mar step up we will look not good enough.

Back to recruitment and injuries, thats football.

Last 2 league games Haaland has been played in by Cherki twice and today Foden. Wonderful passes which Haaland has wasted. No doubt he's a great goalscorer but Messi probably scores 3.

Well he wouldn't. If that were true, he would've been getting about 150 a season at barca, given the amount of chances they used to create..

All strikers miss plenty of chances, including Messi. Like in the 2014 world cup final when we was played in on goal and missed.

Savinho gets paid to play football.

Wow.
Worse. He got a payrise to play like that.

Not sure what the point of him and Bobb is today. Neither involved nearly enough and ineffective when they are.

Other than a goal against Newcastle 21 months ago I can't think of one other good thing Bobb has contributed for the first XI. Seems to have built a massive reputation off not playing because everyone was shit when he was missing through injury.

Too many core changes have broken the rhythm, the midfield looks weak, disconnected, and lacks any threat, while the defense is slow, with our high line chasing a goal back, just waiting for one good lob from Villa to score a second.

Unfortunately won’t hook either of the wingers. Reijnders continues to ghost unfortunately. I don’t envy Pep as he is limited on midfield options, but he can 100% put Cherki on.
