We have managed to get through this season with relatively few major injuries, yet save for Akanji, every other defensive player has been sidelined through injury at some point, so we can never be sure they’re not still carrying knocks.

After getting through against Villa last year, by the skin of our teeth, I suspect Guardiola realises that there is no point risking anything with the defence this year.
