Match Thread; City v Liverpool

Just signed up to the site to ask some City fans a few questions. Unfortunately I can't start a new topic so can't post them on their own and didn't want to hi-jack anyone's thread.

Basically I am doing a preview for the City game against Rovers (like this one) on the 25th at Ewood for BRFCS. Anyway I need a real City fans to answer a few questions which will be featured in my preview.

Anyway, the questions are below. I have 6 days before I have to submit my preview (after the next game) so would be thrilled you wanted to answer these , I will credit each answer I use with your nick in my preview.

Q) With 6 games to go, City are in 4th spot and again vying with Tottenham for the Champions’ League place, they beat you to it last season so do you think this year will be your turn to grab that illusive spot? YES-Finally!

Q) It is commonplace to ask rival teams who their “danger man” is and who we should be looking out for, given the amount of money Sheik Mansour has invested you should have eleven of them but who out of your superstars do you think will cause us particular trouble on Saturday? Silva

Q) And which player has impressed you most this season? Not necessarily your best player but the player who has done more than you expected this term. Kompany - Developed into one of the best centre halfs in the world

Q) At Rovers, where money has always been scarce (post Jack Walker that is), the transfer fee plays a big factor when we judge the quality of a signing; we’d view a freebie that scored 10 goals for us a better buy than a £5m player who scored 11. Despite having an almost infinite transfer kitty, do the fans still judge the ‘value’ of each player brought in or do expensive failures not bother you? Of course look no further than santa cruz!

Q) From an outsider’s point of view what do you think of Venky’s and the way they have run Blackburn Rovers so far? Dont know too much about them, the allardyce sacking was poor, as was the way they installed Kean

Q) And finally, your prediction for the game?
3-1

Thanks in advance and keep luck getting that CL place!!!

thank you, good luck staying up ;)

Q) With 6 games to go, City are in 4th spot and again vying with Tottenham for the Champions’ League place, they beat you to it last season so do you think this year will be your turn to grab that illusive spot? Yes they have harder fixtures left than we do.

Q) It is commonplace to ask rival teams who their “danger man” is and who we should be looking out for, given the amount of money Sheik Mansour has invested you should have eleven of them but who out of your superstars do you think will cause us particular trouble on Saturday? Silva because he is our most creative player.

Q) And which player has impressed you most this season? Not necessarily your best player but the player who has done more than you expected this term. Micah has got back to his best and Kompany.

Q) At Rovers, where money has always been scarce (post Jack Walker that is), the transfer fee plays a big factor when we judge the quality of a signing; we’d view a freebie that scored 10 goals for us a better buy than a £5m player who scored 11. Q) From an outsider’s point of view what do you think of Venky’s and the way they have run Blackburn Rovers so far? I don't agree with Sam leaving and I think he is a better manager than Kean but they seem alright.

Q) And finally, your prediction for the game?
2-1 to city not gonna be easy though.

Thanks in advance and keep luck getting that CL place!!!

Thanks mate hope that helps and good luck.

I've read that John Flanagan is rumoured to start at RB for them tonight. He's an 18 year old scouser.

Yes it considered almost essential that we get at least 4th spot this season with the F.A. cup a bonus.

Q) It is commonplace to ask rival teams who their “danger man” is and who we should be looking out for, given the amount of money Sheik Mansour has invested you should have eleven of them but who out of your superstars do you think will cause us particular trouble on Saturday?

David Silva is our best attacking player in my opinion and has the ability to create or score a goal at any time.

Q) And which player has impressed you most this season? Not necessarily your best player but the player who has done more than you expected this term.

Silva. He has taken the prem by storm when a lot of us thought it would take him a season or two to adapt like Modric and Nasri. Also Kompany has really pushed on this season and has become a world class centre back in my opinion.

Q) At Rovers, where money has always been scarce (post Jack Walker that is), the transfer fee plays a big factor when we judge the quality of a signing; we’d view a freebie that scored 10 goals for us a better buy than a £5m player who scored 11. I hold the view that the player doesn't choose his price tag so is not to blame for how much he is bought for. However, my minimum requirement for our players, considering the amount of money they are earning, is to work and fight for the team. So, I judge players purely on how well they have done for us rather than compare that to their price tag so silva is the only one who has really impressed me this season however I will always give every player time to settle into a new squad and sometimes to a new country.

Q) From an outsider’s point of view what do you think of Venky’s and the way they have run Blackburn Rovers so far?

I think the Venky's are trying to do everything on the cheap, this being shown by them giving Kean a three year deal on relatively small wages, and this will show in the summer. I don't think they will get you anywhere unfortunately because I think they will only be willing to spend big for big names like Beckham and Ronaldinho and I think they will give Kean very little to spend in the future. I think it was a bad decision to sack Big Sam who is better than Kean.

Q) And finally, your prediction for the game?

I think it will be close a especially with you having such a good home record however we have more to play for then you and I think we will win 2-0.

I think we're more than capable of it. Just need to maintain focus. Most of our poor results have been after midweek Europe games, however we don't have them any more. So definitely. Spurs have looked very strong but same, after champ league games, looked a bit tired and messy. Man for man, we're a better team, and with Mancini at the helm can be/are a better team.

Q) It is commonplace to ask rival teams who their “danger man” is and who we should be looking out for, given the amount of money Sheik Mansour has invested you should have eleven of them but who out of your superstars do you think will cause us particular trouble on Saturday?
David Silva is a great reader of the game and can create great assists and can also score. But I wouldn't rule out the threat of Balotelli or Tevez. Also the return of A. Johnson is a great boost, as the Sunderland game showed. Out of those I'd say Silva though is the real threat. by and large the rule is 'no goals without assists'.

Q) And which player has impressed you most this season? Not necessarily your best player but the player who has done more than you expected this term.

Kompany has impressed but that was expected in my opinion. He's a fantastic player. A player who's done better than expected it's hard to say as with the transfer fees you'd expect everyone to perform. Perhaps Yaya Toure's quick adaptation to the English game has been great to watch. I knew he'd be great but he landed straight on his feet within a few games.

Q) At Rovers, where money has always been scarce (post Jack Walker that is), the transfer fee plays a big factor when we judge the quality of a signing; we’d view a freebie that scored 10 goals for us a better buy than a £5m player who scored 11. I think with the "rich owners tax" it's hard to see the real value of players and the fee put on the player when they know City are interested handful of players have been disappointing. Santa Cruz after being so great for Blackburn was one. Perhaps Lescott until recent games. It seems when players come here some feel that with their wages and price tag they're instant starters and don't have to work hard in training. Mancini has no problem dropping a player to the bench if he feels they aren't performing which brings them back to reality. Lescott is a perfect example. That's just a theory though. Who knows why he didn't perform at first. There could be many reasons. But it seems whenever a certain player gets dropped they come back in blinding form.

Q) From an outsider’s point of view what do you think of Venky’s and the way they have run Blackburn Rovers so far?

Well a lot of people have criticised the dismissal of Sam, however looking back the City owners should have done this and installed a top manager or a caretaker until there was someone to satisfy them. Mark Hughes was never their first choice in my opinion and his sacking was inevitable in time. Leaving him in charge to spend all this money and then the manor in which he was dismissed caused a lot of bad press which we didn't need. As for taking Blackburn to the top it depends on their patience and willingness to open their pockets. Football is no cheap game, and as any City fan will tell you takes time. What comes of Blackburn remains to be seen.

Q) And finally, your prediction for the game?

I see no reason for it not to be a clean sheet for us and a few goals in our favour. 0-2/3. That seems about right.
