These are the current rules used in the CL.

Apparently VAR and the referee deemed Mahrez’s handball “intentional”.

The game is gone if that was intentional.

Never ever ever a handball to disallow the goal!

Also, it shouldn’t have been a penalty because it hit the lad’s arm above the CL logo on his shirt sleeve. That’s literally not handball!

They’ve got both of those wrong.

Yes. Only the scorer handling it immediately before scoring rules a goal out in the PL, any handball from the attacking team in the build up to a goal rules the goal out in the CL.

Reminds me of a few games from last season, they're sitting in deep, and we are having to be patient (and a bit too patient at times). Gundo/Kev in the middle and Grealish/Mahrez on the wings don't help with the feeling that everything is a bit plodding. Scored the penalty and it's a different game. Ah well.

Plodding, yes I agree. The goal stands or the penalty goes in and yes it's a different game. Now we will have 10 players having to work their socks off before we play the scousers.

Is the handball rule for goals different in the champs league to the prem league?

I think the rules are the same for every competition, but the CL have always been absolutely ridiculous when it comes to handball. The number of times I've seen a player give a penalty away because the ball hit the back of their arm from point blank range when they're facing in the opposite direction.

Well, just went onto the BBC to look at the line up for tonight and fuck me if it isn't half time. Don't really follow the CL games, so missed the early kick off. I see we've made a lot of changes, Mahrez has missed a pen and were down to 10 men. Fucking gutted I wasn't on here, I bet there was a full nuclear meltdown when Mahrez missed the pen!!

To be fair - looking at him quivering - it was the most inevitable part of the match so far.
