Under this system he has had the ball about 30 times in good positions and the only time he actually played a first time pass we create then score - that is my point - his position is key and with us struggling he needs to do that more often. Tell me what else has he done from receiving the ball in the centre circle with space? And you have to admit when they break down his side they look as though they will score every time.

Needs a flat back four second half. Have to compensate for the total lack of anything defensively from the midfield.

Hate to say it but De Bruyne looks finished at this level. Still has the magic but his body is broken and he deserves more dignity.

Rice did in interview on Boxing Day saying he’s really struggled since the euros due to a lack of rest and he’s only just starting to feel like himself again. It does sound like accumulative physical and mental fatigue is becoming a serious issue. Rodri mentioned being at best break point before his injury.
