Genuinely puzzles me how many on here criticizes referees decisions without even knowing the laws of the game.
Agree, not even a controversial decision, clear foul. Can only hope we play a masterclass in the second half, we have had something special, now we need another

So if we drop points in this game a load of people here will find solace in feeling we were 'cheated'. You play the match you are in... regardless the obstacles. If you are blaming being cheated as the reason you've been hard done by there's no way you've got the mindset at the same time to push forward and do what is needed for your team.
The flip side to this argument is the “know your place” norm that corrupt organisations enforce when they are actually cheating those people.

That is, if you are confident you are being unfairly treated and just “work harder” to overcome it, you will always have to work harder, it won’t always let you overcome the unfair treatment, and everyone that comes after you will have to try to “rise above it”, as well. Or they’ll do what should actually be done and put a stop to the unfair treatment altogether.

That mindset just gives more power to those mistreating you. It’s not far off the unfortunate and frequent mindset of someone being abused.

And I say that agreeing completely that Joao deserved to be sent off for that challenge. But that doesn’t excuse how the Fulham players are being allowed to hack our players and doesn’t excuse the penalty we should have gotten for Akanji being manhandled in the box as the ball was coming in to him.

TL;DR
“Working harder” to overcome structural incompetence/corruption only perpetuates the structural incompetence/corruption.

Nope, it's always better to let the player through and compete with 11

Than take him down, bank on a missed penalty, and have your backs against the wall the rest of the match.
but he didn't take him down thinking he was gonna give away a pen. he went for the challenge and wasn't a million miles away from it being clean

Miles the better side and unlucky but a deserved sending off. Of course, Cancelo's foul is nothing like the one on Rodri but the pitch position is everything. Great finish by Alvarez, though poor keeping, Rodri looking immense and KDB sharp as hell. Jack not as good as the last few matches so look for him to improve second half.
Pitch position is irrelevant. A foul is a foul anywhere, isn't it?

What ever happened to double jeopardy ? It was decided a couple of seasons ago if the attacking team gets a penalty the defender only gets a yellow not a red , when did it change ?
Stupid by Cancelo to even give the ref the opportunity , there wa s a good chance Ederson saves the shot and at worst its 1-1 and we have 70 minutes with eleven men to regain the lead.
Not sure if clubs still fine their players for recieving yellow and red cards , but Cancelo should be fined for making a stupid decision , he might think twice next time.
