Great that we are winning the tie.......but this game should be over,we should be out of sight.Once again we are our own worst enemies,this lack of purpose going forward in favour of slowing down the game and favouring playing it backwards and sideways will always prevent us from being the team we can be if a bit more directness and invention in attack was implemented.

Foden and Kev superb,Jesus too,Bernie doing ok but never quite fully in the game in the role he is performing.As for Mahrez,other than the fantastic assist,he has not made a single other correct choice in the game.

Eddie also needs to sort his shit out,he got away with 2 or 3 shite plays in that half.

Hopefully a more settled defence will give us the foundation to build on our lead in the second.

Let’s not forget Madrid have had a week off since their last game

I don't think there was room to pass to Foden because of the defenders' positions. I think he was right to shoot but should have gone far post because if it was parried by the keeper Foden would have a tap in.

Good half overall and a really entertaining game. This is the best I’ve seen us play going forwards all season. We look energised and, most unusually, we started the game being very clinical. It looked like we had an extra man on the pitch because we were always able to find someone in space. That wouldn’t last though, as expected, because Ancelotti and his players would figure it out tactically before too long.

The only real issue is that we’re the creator of our biggest problems. Yes, we could and should have scored 4 goals. But we haven’t been consistently clinical for a long time now. We’ve been better in front of goal so far in this game than we have on average this season. I can’t really expect much more.

The game is not nearly over. It wouldn’t have been over even if we scored 4 goals. Madrid are absolutely deadly in attack. They need only a single half chance to score a goal. Going through will depend more on how we can defend. We need to completely cut out the stupidity at the back to stand any chance. We’ll have more opportunities going forwards.

Phil's miss was far worse.

Playing Devils advocate here - Mahrez had a very simple pass on because it is a natural first action with your right instep, Phil went for the far post across the keeper, which is the right thing to do he just missed the target. Both should have at least made the keeper work, but to say the Mahrez pass was hard with the ability he has is wrong, his first thought was a shot but it would have to be near perfect to beat the keeper in that small space - bit like the hitting the wheelie bin on the Saturday soccer thingy. It happens too much with him and you can tell by the reaction of both Kev & Phil in the last three games what they think of him not passing when they have made late runs for a possible tap in. He still put in a great cross for the first and was very, very good up until that chance but the two cross/pass opportunities he's had since & the weaker than Modric challenge are why so many give him a bit of a hard time.

We are playing so well I just hope we don't rue both those chances. At 3 or 4 -0 their heads would have gone a bit. The proverbial next goal is key. We score and I fancy us to get to the final. Come on blues.

I think the bottling of the 50/50 that lead to their goal was almost as criminal.

Hes an absolute fucking fanny when it comes to getting stuck in.A bit more bottle and he wins that challenge.
