Bit of a waste of time playing a pre-seasin game with that squad. They won't be playing come August so what do they need to be match fit now for?

More like a city X1 team we used to send to the local cubs at pre-season.
Not a lot we can do about the majority of the squad not being there but we may as well have just not bothered with going abroad and stayed local instead.

That would be a fairly good explanation for this entire tournament, as the pitch in our last match was also an absolute joke (though, not as hazardous).
