Playing Devil's advocate - how can Yoan Gouffran move to avoid the ball and then not be interfering with play? Right or wrong, the referee has a big job on his hands to keep this from boiling over now. Maybe Newcastle can use this anger to their advantage. Big Sam style.

That is actually a very good point. In order to be considered "inactive" in an offside position a player must not affect play in any way. Gouffran would only meet this status if he stood completely still... Which would have blocked the ball and he would then also be offside.

Just a thought.
