Having a quick glance at this thread and the drama queens are out in force. At least while the match is on it will give their windows a chance to dry.

Do you think that all eleven players are performing well then ?

nobody is playing badly

It's been one of those performances that has seen occasional lovely individual skill followed by a clumsy touch. Typical first game of the season. Not bad at all but hopefully we'll be a bit sharper 2nd half.

I think everyone has played well so far, Jovetic looks a little out of sync with everyone else at the moment, but you can see they're all trying to incorporate what he brings to the side. Have to remember the rest of the squad bar Fernando have played together a lot more often than Jovetic, so all things considered hes doing fine. Great back heel from Edin!

Newcastle are playing well too, lacking incisive passes in the final third though. Hope Vinnie doesn't dive in on their striker like that again, if he was more composed they might have made something out of that. Cabella is very fast and skillful

Impressive. Jovetic needs to calm down and keep it simple at times. Get his head up and keep the ball moving.

Yes,needs to be a little bit more head up when he gets it but having a good start.Hes not played much for City really so think it will come.

That's what Pellegrini is paid to sort out, right?

When Jovetic played against England ,he was a one man show. He just needs to learn to complement the team rather than beat everyone on his own.

There's a bit of rust is all. They certainly haven't been as bad as what people are saying. Dzeko has been superb. Considering some of the lads have had virtually no pre-season, its not a bad performance by any stretch of the imagination.

Would like to see Silva getting into it a little more.I`ve lost count the number of balls he`s either lost or given away, but what a ball from Dzeko to him for that goal.Rustiness is the key word,as we know how they can perform on their day.Certainly not a bad performance, but the midfield need to keep it tight.Dezeko has certainly been the pick of ther bunch and his workrate today is immense, something I`ve been critical off in the past.

I think people are being far too hard on Fernando. He hasn't been great but he's done his primary job, he's sitting deep and making sure Newcastle haven't had a free run at our back 4, covering and slowing down counters when Clichy and Kolarov have gotten caught upfield. His recovery speed is something that really helps us, Garcia couldn't have done 3 or 4 of the plays Fernando has made already

That's true. At least when he loses possession he does seem to try and retrieve the situation by attempting to tackle back and retrieve the situation

Great to see Fernando winning headers saving Vinny having to go for them as well.

Jovetic has played well. Very lively and involved. Dzeko has also been much involved with the attacking play. Clichy has been immense as expected and all in all a good first half. Newcastle settled in as the game went on and played much better. This is what you expect from a good team with a bunch of new players wanting to impress but I think we handled them very well.

Kolarov has had a lot of runs in behind from the left but due to lack of composure after exerting himself to get in those positions, he has not been able to pick someone out or find a pass but he is also a threat from that left hand side. Fernando has been quiet so far.

Yaya Toure shows what he can do once again with his role in that goal.................let the nightmares begin. Great finish from Silva.

More of the same in the second half with a bit more tempo and cutting edge in the final third.
