You're still not getting it. Once we conceded after four minutes we went from needing two goals without reply to win the tie to needing three. That's if they didn't score again. Scoring twice without reply takes us into extra time and if it stays that way penalties. Their heads dropped after four minutes because a really tough task became impossible. As it proved. Madrid schooled us all.over the pitch and even if we had scored THREE they would have simply upped the tempo and scored more.
Two separate issues. What would have happened if another matter.

I'm talking about fact - at 4-2 down, a team NEEDS two goals. You've said yourself, that would have led to the lottery of penalties.

You'd be correct if the away goals rule was still in place, but it isn't.

Turn it around, if it makes it easier for you to grasp - say we'd gone there with a 2-1 lead, would you have been saying that we'd go through as long as we didn't concede twice? No - again, penalties.

This bollocks attitude about needing to win by more than they did in the first leg is just unnecessarily defeatist. I wonder whether the players also had this fragile mindset?

Everybody on here except you can see this - I'm not replying again, but somehow think you will...

Correct. You can't argue with stupid.

What have wages or transfer fees to do with players form or ability.

I'm sure the forum would like to to understand why you think they're connected.

If they were, the rags would be champions !!
It#s more to do with lack of professionalism..effort comes from making boxes and triangle so the player with the ball has options. The more your paid - generally the better you are / but more importantly the effort levels should be off the scale when a DEFENDER's average earnings = £10.4 million (2023 - 2024) that's 281 x more than the average Mancunian (37k Mancunian average) - surely we should get at least 100 x more effort than the average man on the street - it's the obvious lack of effort that's been rare in our squad that's a bit galling

Whats Foden done all season?? Been atrocious for the vast majority of it… not on his own granted!!
Agreed, maybe the kids, moving house, neighbours moaning etc etc Started too young - a bit bored - like Rashford got bored...can happen. I do think a lot of young stars do go through a mid 20's bit bored of it all period....

And pal the same millionaires have gave you the best 6-7 years playing at such an intense level until of late
I agree wholeheartedly they have - what I'm on about is poor planning to ease the changes - we have left it with players on fire for 6 -7 , obviously can't go on ..but little succession planning - ended up spending loads in Jan - not many Jan buys work - people trying to say they were summer targets brought forward.....hmmm maybe....
