If the rumors regarding Gundogans back are true then this move makes even more sense, if he now can shift between 6/8 and a pivot role. But i do think City will need two midfielders if Gundogan is restriced. McAtee could be the 2nd option? Bernardo and Kdb will still be cemented starters.

Dropping into the 4231 as we have been recently would be ideal to drop McAtee in as a #10 while he's learning. i think the fact the city press pack havent knocked this rumour down like the Nuno Mendes link then there is certainly something in us signing him.

He looks a very good player to be honest and is now in the Portugal team so it seems Pep thinks he can defo mold him into something?

Agree, he’s absolutely more a Gundogan type player but what I’ve seen he can play back & forward in midfield.I think he's got usage as both filling out for Gundogan but also backing up Rodri if needed.
