It’s used so often because it’s true.

You could do a YouTube video of a League 2 player (it’s a good standard of football and there are some very skilful and good quality players at that level) and make them look a player who might be a good Prem player even though at best they’d only ever make it to League 1.
Yes. I was referring to the Samaras remark specifically.

[Tim Nash] Nunes, a Portugal international, rejected the chance to join West Ham earlier this summer and was apparently waiting for Liverpool to step in. But I understand agent Jorge Mendes has persuaded him to join Wolves. Huge signing in more ways than one.

Yeah definitely something going on.. hope he pauses for a bit and thinks about it at least. I haven't really heard anything at all about Liverpool though..

Wolves fan here (but living in Manchester and much prefer City over United haha).

Rumour was that Nunes had an agreement with us that if City or Liverpool didn't come knocking by August 15th then he'd join us. I reckon we'll get two years max out of him before he'll join yourselves or Liverpool, but hopefully during those two years we get a solid push for European football going. Our owners own a large percentage of Mendes' company which is why we manage to get these deals, and we also won't stop him from leaving when the time comes like West Ham likely would have.

Where the rumour originally started:

Thanks for the info.
Out of interest why has Neves never moved on? Feels like his star has diminished slightly but scoring a worldie is all I used to ever see not watching wolves that regularly

So happy Wolves signed him. I have no doubt, Liverpool would've made an offer after their midfield disaster against United. Nunes is class.

I don’t think anyone has met our valuation of neves, plus he’s very settled at wolves and has never pushed for a move. Strongly rumoured to have signed a new deal now. He’s always said he’ll only leave for CL football.. but you never know

Good for Wolves then, a settled player is very unlikely to leave.

Neves is a quiet family man like a lot of our Portuguese players and Raul Jimenez, a few have spoken of their love of living in and around Wolverhampton as they are able to live a relatively normal life without being mobbed whenever they go out. Neves absolutely wants to stay and I too have heard that he has now signed his contract, the club matching his transactions by bringing in players like Guedes and Nunes will only help in keeping him at the club.

Under Nuno and perhaps still now, we operate a 'no dickheads' policy and the club scout the character and personality of players as well as their talent.

We just need a bloody goalscorer now!

Having lived in Wombourne for a few years, I can endorse the love of living an/around Wolverhampton. The area around Wombourne is stunning !

There are some stunning areas within commuting distance of Wolverhampton in places like South Staffs and Shropshire. The same is true of Manchester. I have always thought the much quoted media myth that "they all want to live in London" is total bollocks.

Indeed. I live in Bridgnorth in Shropshire which is just 20 minutes or so from the outskirts of Wolverhampton

Just noticed that in my post yesterday and mentioned 'matching his transactions' instead of 'ambitions', can see the sort of work I do!

Where the rumour originally started:

Saw the first half of your game v spurs, I thought you dominated them and he looked like a fine player, some very clever touches

I didn't go to the Carabao Cup game last night but those that did said he looks a class above, very graceful on the ball and creates his own space with his ability and some superb touches

Exactly, all depends on where they are in their life and personality. They'll be many single players who value the bright lights big cities but many with families/ different outlooks who value other things. My experience of people who live in London is half can't understand why anyone would live anywhere else and the other half wonder wtf they are doing there. Traditionally lots of journalists came under the first category but I think that is changing.
