And if he has a terrible loan? If he doesn’t play on loan? I don’t see who he plays ahead of at atletico so wouldn’t it be pointless?A player who will get next to no minutes not being around the gaff? We know how prickly these Portuguese are. Get his wages covered. Win win

Yep. That's how squads work.
Like when we won the title because Delph that wasn't going to get any minutes played a whole run at LB when needed. Or when the doomed Zinchenko ended up being a key player for us. Or Ake, that should have returned to Chelsea because he wouldn't get any minutes ended up being our best defender. Or Akanji, who was a nonsense unnecessary signing ended up..
Sometimes it is like people here don't even watch our football, deferring instead to transfermarket predictions.
