Matias Rodriquez

We all know Mancini has a knack of buying players from certain positions and totally changing their playing position to accomodate his style i.e Yaya.

Where did he play at Olympiacos?

Could this be anything to do with keeping our current argie crew happy?
and also, if he signs, I reckon he'll play as a winger or even a central midfielder rather than fullback

Slightly concerns me that, whilst RW is a position we need to strengthen, this guy can also play RB and woud take up another non home grown squad place. Not a sign that Zaba is off, I hope. Keep seeing clubs linked with him, Milan the latest.

What is it with Bobby and Argies? Was the same at Inter…

Probably down to the fact that he has worked with Argentinians before and you cannot fault their work ethic and ability on the ball and that they will give you 100% on the pitch.

It has been reported that Bobby has sanctioned a £7million deal

A fair amount of Argies have Italian roots. Perhaps some of our guys speak to Roberto in Italian.

Lavezzi could of played for Italy I believe. Uruguay is the same - that country is full of Italian roots.

You only have to look at names ike Lavezzi, Coloccini, Zanetti etc to see that Argentina has been influenced by Italian culture almost as much as Spanish.

Yep - and Messi!

The way the Argentines speak Spanish is, they like to think, a blend of the Spanish language, with a more Italian-influenced delivery - the reality is not quite like that, and is something of its own, but they will still try and argue the point with you!

Suppose some people on here will be watching Argentina v Brazil instead of Germany v Portugal later.

As far as I'm aware Rodriguez is not in the squad. He's certainly not in the starting 11. Zabaleta starts but Aguero isn't apparently due to being suspended for their next world cup qualifier. Tevez not even in the squad.

He is in the squad, he probably won't start but he might make an appearance from the bench.

I asked my argie mate about him and he said he is definatley a defender and is solid, but can put a shift in at right-wing and central midfield. He said he is the best player playing in Chile and could be great for Argentina. He is a boca fan and said when rodriguez played for their youth he was the 'Next big thing' but it never really worked out for him, also he said that he is surprised we are interested because of his age.

Did he play last night?

no - and Kun only came on in the last 15 minutes of a brilliant game. Messi's third goal was stunning.

Just as an aside I was watching Venezuela v Chile in the World Cup qualification and another Matias (Fernandez) who plays for Sporting (he played against us) had a dazzling game in midfield. His skill on the ball was extraordinary.

Was hoping to have a look at him today (Boca Juniors v Universidad) but the one stream I could find with English commentary also seems to be the only one with irritating music playing incessantly in the background.
