Because you didn't have Barcelona, City, and other big european clubs competing to get Michael Keane.Not trying to be an arse but how do we know it wouldn't be more like Everton signing Michael Keane before he became worse than he was at Burnley!?

We will not have the 4 best young CBs on our squad. Other teams play football too.
Frankly,I'm not sure we can keep Garcia or Sandler here talkless acquirinh MDL. The very best players simply won't sit on a bench and rot.
With Sandler and Garcia, we'd have amazing bbackuos to Stones and Eric for maybe 2 years before those 2 move to go lead there own dynasty.

We can't buy players like De Light. We already have backups in place to replace Komps and Ota', at the end of this season and at the end of next season.Would Pep carry 5 central defenders or would one of Kompany and Otamendi have to leave before we could bring in another such as De Ligt?
Sandler and Garcia.
De Ligt will be great, but it will not be here. Just like Van Dyke is great, but not here.. We have cast our lines with John and Eric... And that's that. They are both gonna be very good. Plenty good enough. And if either falter we have Sandler and Garcia coming.
CB is a position I'm not worried about in the least.

Otamendi would have to go, Kompany might be able to stay because of his injury history and ties to the club.
Like every team who play a back 4, we have room for 3 main CBs with a 4th who doesnt mind playong nuch less, a veteran like Vinny or a kid like Garcia or Sandler.

And tbf Otamendi is still at an age where we'd get a decent fee for him. Some CL club in Europe would bring him in surely

Otamendi just signed a new contract, don’t think he’ll be going anywhere.
Could be 5 central defenders next season if Kompany agrees a new contract and De Ligt comes in. I don’t know where that leaves us for space in the squad, especially considering we’re rumoured to bring in two more midfielders as well.

Looks good but concerns around if he is quick enough on the turn and in 1 V 1 situations? Also is he ready to step into our team? Do we need him now?

From the little I have seen............ I totally agree. We need de Jong far more than de Ligt.

Wouldn't be surprised if we offer him something along the lines of player coach. Incredibly intelligent footballer / born leader / role model, he ticks all the boxes to make a fantastic coach, just depends whether he would be interested in staying even with less game time. He could then build experience and eventually become a manager.
Personally I also wouldn't be surprised to see him go back to Anderlecht at some point.
