Matthijs de Ligt

Stupid is reading everything word by word and not understanding my point. Of course I'm not saying Liverpool will never concede a league goal again if they sign De Ligt, that should be obvious. But they would have a rock solid defense and reduce the number of goals conceded this season, no doubt. You're taking thing too literally.

Gomez would not bench Alexander-Arnold at RB and he would struggle for gametime if they were to sign De Ligt, as Van Dijk is given in their starting eleven.
They have a great squad, I agree, but they lack creativity in midfield so I think their priorities lie elsewhere. I hope so anyway.

"Deluded" and "you're wrong". Great reply, thanks...

I love Laporte but he is no Van Dijk, yet. I almost stopped reading at "Trent isn't better than Walker". He has amazing crosses, Walker can barely whip a cross. A-A is miles better going forward, has better ball control and better understanding of the game. Walker is great using his speed to catch up when we get countered, but the irony is that Walker is usually the one dropping the ball or misplacing a pass leading to us getting countered. Walker is our biggest weakness, which says everything about the quality in our team. I would rather have A-A as our RB.

Let's agree to disagree. Something tells me this won't be the last time.

I see no reason why we’ll disagree habitually. I don’t go round the forum disagreeing based on poster, I base it on whether I disagree with a point being made.

Many of the sub-points you use to illustrate your point aren’t measurable and are vague to say the least - ‘better going forward’ and ‘better understanding of the game’ - these don’t actually mean anything mate, and you can’t evidence them.

However, the ones that can be measured - ‘better ball control’ and ‘misplaced passing’ can be. Let’s look at the facts re Walker / TAA.

Pass completion % for Walker is 90%, TAA is 77% (whoscored.com).

Therefore Walker has the better control of the ball and is less likely to ‘misplace the ball’ than TAA.

Clear evidence that a point you made is in fact incorrect.

Also I thought you’d said the other day Delph was our biggest weakness? Now, in this thread, it’s Walker?

Haha, sorry for assuming you're able to think on your own. When I say "they would never concede any goals in the league, ever again", just how realistic does it sound in your ear?
Even the best back four in history of football would not go clean an entire season. I was speaking metaphorically which I am confident you have no idea what it means, so let me explain. It means a statement which is not really true or realistic but used for expressing the intense of the circumstance.
I hope we can skip the part where I draw you a picture. Bud.

Ahh, so when you make a statement from now on everybody is supposed to presume that you don't actually mean what you say but that you're just talking bollocks? Given your posts so far that's not too much of a stretch to be honest.

BTW (that's short for 'by the way', bud) you seem to be quite in awe of Liverpools backline, is there any particular reason for that given they only conceded one less goal than ourselves (ourselves in this context to be MCFC)?

So we have just won an unprecedented domestic treble and in the last 2 seasons have gained 198 points -but we need to offload several players?

is their any actual tenable link to this guy ir is it just 160 plus pages of arguing between posters about whether he is good enough or whether he would go to any other club?

I think the figure of speech you are looking for here is hyperbole. Not Metaphor.

Thus, what you meant to say was that you were speaking hyperbolically, and not metaphorically.

Hyperbole being the use of exaggeration to create emphasis or an added effect.

Metaphor on the other a symbolic representation of something else. That won't apply here.

That said, if you couldn't tell what figure of Speech you were using, is it fair to expect others to?

Just joking :)

If his wage demands are true, then probably not.

If those sub-points you raised to prove your initial point were ‘irrelevant’ why did you raise them?

As per your acknowledgement, they do nothing to prove the point your were clumsily attempting to make.

Your comment regarding ‘half of’ Walker’s passing - can you provide your source for this statistic? I’d be interested to read it.

I’d also be very interested to see what data you’ve used to conclude that not only is Walker our weakest link, he is or weakest link ‘by far’. Can you point me towards it please?

Liverpool were only 4% behind us in terms of average possession in premier league games. Hardly a huge difference in possession as you allude to.

I’m also intrigued to know how this Liverpool back 4 is so much better than ours yet we only conceded 1 goal less than them across the premier league season? And for further consideration we conceded 1.2 goals per game across the CL whereas they conceded 1 goal per game across the CL.

Hardly statistics that scream that their back 4 is so much better than ours.

Is there any truth in clubs are having second thoughts because he struggles to keep his weight down? If he has fat tendencies at 19 years old it's only gonna get worse

Someone who knows more about it explain more what Mino brings to the table on this. Has he increased the hype and created this bidding war or would it always have been there.

From outside looking in, you’d think his agent could facilitate this. I appreciate Mino is a very well versed as getting the best for their Client but seems to be pricing him out of the Barca deal with his agent fee. Or is this a ploy and he takes this greedy image and shields his player whilst actually maximising his income.

It just seems strange how he has got involved in this one and surely there is more money in the pot without him.

After seeing the way he rinsed the Rags and Juve I bet we don't want to have anything to do with the slimy ****.

A myth due to United apparently saying this a few seasons ago as his Dad is a porker. Very much in the running. Pep is a good draw.
I've seen recent photos of his family they look perfectly normal, his Dad didn't look particularly fat at all. Just 5 of them in the family photo I saw, him, brother, sister, Mum and Dad. They seemed a good looking family like many Dutch people.

Depends on why. I didn't have any discipline at 19, ate what I wanted when I wanted. I matured into better habits.

Fucking ridiculous. He's 19, a high level athlete and obviously driven. I don't care what your dad looks like... chances are his discipline will prevail. Alot of fattos are fat because of sitting on their arse eating pounds of cheddar, fries and sliding 6 pints down on a daily. The main component of being a lardo is no activity... I don't think Deelite has to worry about that. Most are just coming up with a reason not to feel so bad when the more than likely happens and he doesn't pull on the sky blue (and purple). I would be willing to bet in 5 years he's still being talked about as an upper echelon defender and not sitting around eating Malteasers and chippy batter.

He is a really good young player. His endomorph body type does not have to dramatically affect his career: Sergio will probably go on to be a chunky guy too but he is somewhat of a success.

Whether he plays for us or not, he appears to have what it takes.

You sir are a condescending tit, and I suspect a Dipper one at that. Wonder if you will be around next week if Spurs turn you over la

Liverpool urgently need a back-up fullback and a creative midfielder. I highly doubt they will go for 70-80m De Ligt. I sure hope not, as they would never concede any goals in the league, ever again. Van Dijk is not a kid anymore but they would have a frightening defense for atleast five years.

Ha Ha - 7 points and you blew it!
