Mayhem with MIBs at the game

There are more match going Blues in Stretford than rags. It wasn’t always like that of course but most people who say they support the rags never go to games. There are rags who work for Trafford Council from Salford, in my experience.
Agree with that. Metro’s in Stretford have both red and blues that go from the club, and many more match going blues than reds

I have noticed this with the younger ones. My daughter said to me a few weeks ago the grandson is getting really interested in City and she will try to take him next time there is a "cheap" game.
Just made me think it's a shame people view it as impossible to get to a regular game with kids.
Would be nice if the club could offer a few cheaper tickets at least a bit more often, would be good forward thinking.
Same here.
Daughter his taking one of the grandson's to his first game, Bruges.
I'm praying we beat PSG first for him

Good stuff. Yes I think City dropped clanger when they reversed the decision to have very cheap
Junior tickets for Fulham and Palace at home etc, a few years ago. I know City have restricted prices again for juniors for some fixtures after getting a negative response to price hikes.

Absolute bollocks mate.

Lived in Trafford all my life, worked for the Council for over 25 years, just as many Blues in the South of the Borough as Rags and is the same working for them too.
Fair enough. I am going back 15 or 20 years and I came accross loads more rag shirts and people saying they were united fans back then. Probably due to them still being in the glory years. Likely a lot were casual fans who are more embarrassed now.

Maybe I should've said 'loads of blues'. I was really making the point that on BM people from the other side of the City seem to think of Trafford and, especially Salford, as completely rag areas. But there's blues there too.

It's probably been looked in more depth than I have done but maybe a family ballot for a few thousand cheaper tickets every couple of months. I've found the family don't like dear admission but will go in the shop so the club wouldn't lose much anyway.

When i first starting going as a very young kid circa 1968 my grandad or dad lifted me up and carried me through with
him and always said " future supporter " ,they probably did that till they could feasibly get away with it, even though by todays prices it was peanuts anyhow .I know you can still take an under 5 in free now too.

It really does sadden me how many people just can't afford the high cost of prem tickets.Me and my lad are very lucky with our cheap ss3 season tickets.

Eccles, in my experience, is the one place in Greater Manchester where you will still see people wearing rags clobber when everyone else is too embarrassed.

That said, I was in Greggs in Eccles a couple of weeks ago and a lovely old woman was wearing a Utd rucksack and hat. Me and r kid asked her if she was a big Utd fan. She replied “no” and said these were the cheapest items in the charity shop.

I know we have an OSC Branch of City diehards in Eccles btw.
As a born and bred Ecclesian I reckon it’s a 50/50 split between City and Trafford United in Eccles.
Wasn’t always that way. When I was younger it was hard being a City supporter but we’ve grown.

I’ve heard the rags have even lost a lot of support in Little Hulton. Crazy times!

Must be loads of fans lost to all PL clubs due to their greed, all short term gain.

If you live in Eccles now then maybe you know better than me.
But the lads I know in Eccles and/or who travel on their bus to aways would say it's nothing like 50/50.

But the ones who travel to aways on their bus are not always from Eccles as they expand their range to outer areas such as Irlam and Swinton etc. to keep the costs down. :-)

I remember having to run the gauntlet at Maine Road when Leeds were in town. Absolute mayhem trying to get through the coaches into St Edwards school car park where we'd park most match days.

Yes similar, tagged along with my dad a few times in the George Poyser days when we were in a dip and the Gate man on the kippax always used to say lift him over. Was probably 7 or 8

Many Leeds fans of a certain age will tell you that their worst experiences as a fan came at Maine Road. They got some hammerings.
