Presumably this is why we're going to be a minority shareholder and strategic partner rather than a majority shareholder or outright owner.
Don't the Udinese owners also own Watford?

Surely they're in the same situation?

I'd presume that we have the ambition for both of our partner clubs to be taking part in the Asian Champions League, whereas the European equivalent would seem a pretty remote prospect for Watford and RB Leipzig have only just been promoted to the second tier in Germany so they're a fair way from the CL, too.

Yes it's only an issue when they're in the same competition. I remember Abramovich had to give up his influence in CSKA Moscow a few years ago.

Will they not be in a continental competition with Melbourne Heart if they're both successful? I thought that wasn't allowed

+ Leeds & Cagliari both owned by Cellino

UEFA take £8 million, I wonder what this deal is worth? My bet, much more than £8m...
When you say "this deal" I assume we've paid them. But no doubt there will be income from the sale of IP rights even though it won't be included for FFP purposes.

This deal will be all about the exposure this gets us into the highly lucrative Japanese market. Plus the comment about us exploring further joint opportunities with Nissan is an important one too, being partnered with such a globally recognised company can only help our revenue prospects.

He's trying to sell Cagliari - BBC online reported yesterday that a deal for an ex-Inter director called Tommaso Giulini to buy that club could be completed later this week.

According to UEFA, we've agreed that "revenues from the sale of assets within their group structure will not be included in future break-even calculations". Is it possible that this has been set up so that it doesn't count as a "sale of assets within [MCFC's] group structure?

In any event, if it is excluded for future FFP purposes, we could probably work it so that any payment from the Japanese club is fairly small but we recoup cash by way of a sponsorship from Nissan instead.
