That was really excellent. Couldn't believe how much ground was covered in 30 minutes. Great to see the old footage but also the takeover and academy were really well covered. Captured the essence of the club as well as anything I've seen in the last 5 years. Well done Gary.

Thanks for all the comments about the #plworld MCFC special. Karl Renow, the key person, spoke to me many many months ago about doing this. He wanted to capture the truth about City and, I have to say, that of all the TV people I've been approached by to do stuff like this in recent years (excluding well known MCFC related figures) he was the first to see that City's history wasn't merely about the 1990s onwards and our rise from 3rd tier to Europe etc. He wanted to know what the full history was and we were determined to pack as much in. I spent a lot of time explaining that the period from January 1979 to September 2008 was the period that was out of character with City's history (and yes, there were some great highs in that period too!) and that City from early 1900s until 1979 were unquestionably a giant of the game. There had been blips and struggles, but City was known worldwide as a major English club, but that it was the struggles of the 1980s/Swales' penny-pinching where's all the money gone era that set us on a downward trend.

Karl got this and if it's managed to persuade at least one person somewhere in the world that MCFC has 'history' (in terms of its status) then it will have done its job.

I've not seen it yet (one day I'll afford/justify spend on Sky Sports) but from what I've heard it sounds like it did the job. I'd encourage everyone to remind other Blues that it's on. There are showings at various times over the next day or so, so get tuned in. Also, the programme has been packaged up for all territories that take Premier League coverage and so it should be shown at some point this week everywhere.

Thanks again for the comments. I just hope I (and the programme) did City justice.

If you'd like to know more on the significance of MCFC in Manchester's footballing birth my article on the 1904 FAC significance is free to download for a limited period here (feel free to tweet links to it): http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/14660970.2014.961378 Also, my piece on origins of football, rugby & lacrosse in Manchester is also free: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/14660970.2016.1276238 Thanks

any other showings planned? missed yesterdays and not home in time tonight

I suspect that is our anti-agenda programme from the BT Rags. Had it been about the BBs then it would be on prime time for the next fortnight. It might be on the BT app. I shall investigate.

Edit: Yep! It's on the BT Sport App. 26m04secs. That's 4 secs of City history and 26 mins of Giggsy taking time off from shagging his sister-in-law to do some banging of another kind.

It's not even a BT programme - it's Premier League World which is made independently of BT/Sky and is shown around the world on channels that have rights to the PL. So, it's alright City fans can keep the anti-BT stance as they only show it, not responsible for it.
