I thought City were playing up an age group to give their younger players a better chance to improve. In other words 16 year-old playing in the age group above.

They are and that's fine but then when you get a host of injuries you end up playing 15's and not 16's.And there is a massive difference in 15's and 16's playing against real 18's Hopefully we will come through the injury crisis without getting close to the relegation areas for either team as we would not want to drop into the 2nd tier.
Just loads of injuries so the teams we are putting out at 18's and EDS are seriously young. The 18's today looked more 16's with a couple of 18's included. Everton on the other hand looked like thay had real blokes in their team .
Only 2 U16s started the game . One was possibly the best player on the pitch and the other wasn’t out of place. Problem was players having to play player out of postion and the better scholars unavailable Unfortunately it was silly errors which cost the team. They will be okay no chance of relegation.

I only recognise half of those names so I couldn't say who's who.

I think this is the standard approach, but the game against Lyon showed we have the technique but not the muscle, and muscle goes a little further than technique at EDS level!
4-1 win against Crewe Alexandra (first team) tonight in the Checktrade trophy with a very young squad. Dele-Bashiru, Gonzalez, Richards and Ogunby with the goals. Pretty impressive considering how many key players were missing: Garcia, Latibeaudiere, Humphreys, Wilson, Gomes, Bernabe, Garre, Touaizi etc.
