A workmanlike, competent display tbh. Fiorini played on then left of a forward 3 today, but usually plays as a 10. Clearly a good bunch of players, but i'm not overly convinced it's a special bunch, having said that it's a really young side too! McDonald and Amankwah were pretty solid at CB and the FBs Sobowale and Corrigan put in good shifts. The absolutely tiny no6 was quite good. Joe Hodge. He's really small, but tenacious and a good passer. Cole Palmer, another u16, looked really nice on the ball, some lovely passes. Not too dissimilar stylistically to Foden, though maybe not as good a dribbler. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is always one moment away from something really good, but he often lets himself down with his decision-making. Totally adept at bursting past a challenge, like his brother Tom, but often then doesn't get the pass right. If he learns that he'll be a handful.
Shauny's lad DWP worked really hard down the right wing and put in a couple of nice crosses too. Keke Simmonds ran his arse off up front, but I'm not convinced he's a natural striker (cos he isn't really). Fiorini scored a pen and a good finish towards the end. Fiorini's an interesting one. A really, really natural finisher, and technically good. Doesn't quite have the pace though to get himself away from people, so it'll be interesting to see how that affects his development.
It is a good bunch, defo, and a young bunch, but I can't pretend any of them jump out as particularly exciting....yet. They could be slow-burners. Moments of good skill, usually let down by the next bit (the final pass or decision).
We did see Alex Robertson, who I think might even be an u15 still! (someone will need to check that)... he looked really confident IMO. Tough box to box player who showed some lovely touches. Noah Ohio got on and looked a natural forward defo, even if he is really young still too.
Tl:dr version - its a good bunch, but its a really young bunch. It's not in the same bracket as the Sancho, Brahim, Foden, Smith, Latibeaudiere group etc IMO, but then again there's no shame in that. They are younger, and lots have also already moved up to the EDS from this year's first years.
