Media bias against City

"mass click bait" is what drives sponsorship deals and revenues my friend, that's the way it is. Our rivals and their media allies have much to lose as City rise and will do anything fair or foul in their power to try to stop us.

Firstly click baits do not drive sponsorship deals click baits generate revenues for websites. Sponsorship deals are a way of a brand promoting its name they are completely different things.

Secondly do you think all the journalists and all the clubs meet up in a pub somewhere and have an agenda and on the top of that agenda is Item No 1 how to destroy City...utter madness

This why I have suggested splitting this thread there is a media bias as that way they generate click baits and therefore revenues for themselves and City seem to be happy with that as they understand its just the media taking a business decision but this doesn't stop City achieving its goals

The much more serious matter is the meetings at the FA and UEFA which does have on its agenda ways of curtailing growth of the nouveau riche such as City and this is the one that Khaldoon does speak about so is of concern to City. This is the agenda which could stop City's continued success and so damage its brand and its sponsorship deals and so is much more important to City

MUEN running interesting article calle the places we miss most in Manchester.

After they get rid of the obvious ones - Wimpy and Jilly's RockWorld - Maine Road does indeed get at cursory mention, together with a picture of, ermm, Wembley?!

This is where you are quite wrong as our commercial revenues have gone through the roof.

Do you really think a CEO of a multi-national company reads an article by John Cross or listens to talksport and thinks I wont use City as a commercial partner they are a damaged brand...dont be foolish

Those that matter are happy to be associated with City

The bias is from the media who are pandering to the mass click bait white van man telephone caller

If you are the CEO of a multi-national do you put more of your sponsorship money into a club with overwhelmingly positive media coverage or overwhelmingly negative. If it had no implications, businesses wouldnt employ PR/media people.

Yes, we have huge gains in commercial revenue. Of course we would, we have gone from a mid table side in england to one trying to reach the top of European football. Could our commercial gains have been even better with more even handed coverage? I think that answer is fairly obvious.

Look I know from personal experience that a CEO of a company would not care less whether City have negative articles about them in the press. If City have been found out for corruption or malpractice that is different but negative opinions about City in the press etc absolutely not. What a CEO would be interested in is being associated with a successful partner

It is us the fans who get upset about the media coverage not the top brass at the club hence we haven't seen papers barred etc if City have felt that some of the criticism has gone too far that has been dealt with but negative press we can deal with

I absolutely agree that it would be nice if we were treated even handedly but if you ever look at the MEN website the most read articles are ones involving United and usually the only time that we are on that list if there is an article which is negative about City. So as a company wishing to make profits I would encourage my staff to write articles praising United and ridiculing City as that will generate more clicks and me more income its not fair but it is economics

Like I say City are very laid back about the press coverage what they do get concerned about is anything that might have a detrimental affect on the success of the team and should anything like FFP or anything be introduced to put that at risk then you will see them get more aggressive

Like I said, there wouldnt be PR jobs if companies arent concerned about they are represented publicly.

And as others have said, what would be the point of owning a newspaper if it didn't buy you significant influence over the powerful and the not so powerful in equal measure? It's rarely a profitable enterprise these days.
