Media bias against City

Or perhaps the City fans who pay to watch and listen in full and certain knowledge of what they will get. Baffling.
I get bad broadband where i am which means i hate streaming games and would rather watch as many on tv as i can and just stream the others that i have to.We should expect to get a normal commentary and analysis, good or bad and not the constant bullshit that we get, fair and balanced is all i ask for,i don't want to be fawned over

Exactly.

Personally I don't get upset by their stupidity and blatant bias, as it indicates that they really are p*ssed off with our success, and that makes it all the more enjoyable.

You're Dorothy aren't you K7? But perhaps with Blue shoes?

Absolutely this. Sat listening to talksport yesterday (I know, I know) and the phone-in was about why City are under performing, we have the best squad in the league, should be ten points clear blah blah they even managed to get in why are there always empty seats it was classic let's stick the boot into City type coverage.

The thing is its so full of contradictions because whilst telling us we have the best squad they proceed to slag off Yaya, slag off Mangala and Otamendi and completely ignore the fact that we have been without Kompany, aguero and Silva for large parts of the season.

But then I'm sat there thinking why isn't there a similar assassination of the Rags who currently sit 6th or Chelsea who are currently relegation candidates!!

I wouldn't be bothered other than the fact that other fans listen to this sh*t and regurgitate it verbatim and worse still City fans themselves come on moaning with our supposed 'predicament' that then permeates our match going fans and affects the atmosphere at the games.

I'm sure this isn't true of everyone but I guarantee it is absolutely the case for a section of our support. My frustration is then our own fans do the media bidding on forums such as this. However you cut it 3 points off top spot can not in any way be considered a disaster but reading on here you'd think it is. The media in my eyes have a large part to play in that.

However, everything isn't undermined because the Club are playing the long game. Yes, part of our owner's ambitions are to promote Abu Dhabi but Khaldoon and the Sheikh also want to see the Club to be profitable and the Group to increase in value - all of which is being achieved.

There is also a question of priorities and I reckon the Sheik and Khaldoon put a higher value on e.g. meeting Cameron and the Queen, in terms of theit medium to longer term goals, than some nasty articles.

I agree with points being made about our owners having a conservative approach to media handling. However, when the piss taking has gone to far then our owners have acted in other area of their business portfolio e.g. Taking legal action against City Group when the value of their shares plummeted.

Finally, the nature of this forum means there are going to be a range of positive and negative comments but I agree that the unofficial label of Bluemoan has been well earnt!

It is difficult to imagine the things that bother someone like Khaldoon, not because of his nationality, education, ethnicity, religion, experience or cultural background but because of the rarefied world that he operates in, the man is the owner of this, on the board of that, he rubs shoulders with....

Maybe Khaldoon might have a word with Murdoch about the Boiled Bollock bad mouthing us on Talksport, or maybe he had a word with Putin about Robbie Savage talking Shite about City.

But somehow I doubt it.

Great stuff!

Possibly, but, as you say, if he did it's had precious little effect, that picture was taken back in 2010.

I've heard tell that Sheikh Mansour jokes that he is most often referred to as the guy who owns Manchester City. There's little doubt that bang for bucks City has really delivered for the Sheikh on so many levels, but if I'm wrong about their conservatism then I'd be interested to hear why you think the powers that be at City, slick and professional in so many aspects of what they do, has either not bothered or been spectacularly unsuccessful in countering the anti City bias in the media.
I'm quite willing to believe that you're right about their conservatism. It's a sound argument.
Maybe it's just a combination of frustration and wishful thinking on my part that I'm hoping for a more pro-active course to be taken.
Of course, there's also nothing to say that they haven't been spectacularly unsuccessful in their dealings with the media. People sometimes are, even when they're otherwise slick and professional.
I suspect though that they know that, ultimately, the media will only turn in our favour when we can demonstrate that there's a profit for them in doing so. To that end, they're busy putting such a (for want of another word) paradigm in place and when all the pieces are in play, the media will naturally fall into line.
It does seem strange though, that with City so closely associated with UAE nowadays, that they are willing to let the mud-slinging continue whilst the transformation is undertaken. As you say, they think a different game to the rest of us.
Godammit! I wanna see the Sheik grab Custis by the jowls and hand out a good, old-fashioned, woman-slappin'!
Is that too much to ask?
Is it!?
:-)

The Sheikh put the best people in charge at City and this management team think 10 years ahead and line up the building blocks well ahead of time so we get there.
A case in point is the Academy. Anyone who could be bothered to find out about what we were doing could find out - but did they do anything about it? Did they understand the implications of what we were doing? No. Suddenly the rags and others now realise that all the best talent is now coming to us and are screaming that it's unfair. Stamping and shouting about anything won't make a difference. You either match what the Sheikh is doing or you get swept away in the torrent of success that follows.
The same will happen to everything else we do. We look at the long term we put things in place for the long term.
Our opposition either competes or gets swept away in the future by what we are doing today.
Why anyone seriously thinks the City hierarchy can be bothered with the knob head journalists jumping up and down spouting rubbish in the press is beyond me. These Journalists are like flies on shit - here today and gone tomorrow. They currently feed off the biggest piles of shit out there. Tomorrow they will feed of the biggest piles of shit out there. Tomorrow our management team calculates that we will be delivering the biggest pile of shit so more and more the journalistic flies will dance to our tune.
The whole media circus is Irrelevant to the big picture. Indeed if City were to do something about the crap that is served up it may make journalists more interested in what City are doing for the future and City don't want that as it may reduce our advantage down the line.
Now, don't get me wrong people in power who show no respect to the Sheikh and his family and friends ARE dealt with but it will not be directly. True political power brokers will use their connections (see all the pictures above) with a nod here a wink there. Information will be gathered and passed on when necessary to the right people but the end result will have no traceable connection to the Sheikh in any way.

I must admit I'd love to see the club engage in some from of public rebuke for the media, nothing drastic, just to let them know we know, the odd slap for those smug, self satisfied mediocrities. I struggle to think of more than a handful of talking heads I have any time for when it comes to City and it's no better in the press, but much as I'd love to see the contents of a match day toilet poured over their heads, it isn't going to happen, and anyone waiting for the powers that be at the Etihad to come out swinging are going to be disappointed..

We might see ourselves like this...
