Was out for a few pints with my mate last night. He’s a Liverpool supporter all his life but doesn’t read any social media shite.Flopp has today pinpointed where liverfools lost the league, apparently it was when we beat Burnley and Leicester, no mention of when they played at the swamp and the scum had 4 midfielders out and then 3 went off injured in the first half, and the dippers played for and got a nil nil
The United game is the one he pinpointed as when he knew they lost the league.
He is and always has been nothing but complimentary about City and Pep.
He said he explained to his two sons who are both Liverpool supporters who have never seen them win anything, that City wouldn’t let it slip and wouldn’t drop anymore points.
He said City are the better team as they have the quality throughout the squad.
Anyway I almost felt guilty about my feelings towards Liverpool and had to explain a few home truths about what is going on in the media, UEFA and who’s behind it.
Quite genuinely he said he hadn’t heard any of that and doesn’t do any of that social media. He knows UEFA are crooks but has no misconceptions about City being the bad guys.
He just doesn’t read the crap.
He just enjoys the football and although they were on the wrong end of it again this year, he thought it was the best league run in ever.
Got me reflecting. I know it’s different for us. We need to be informed for obvious reasons. But maybe we take far too much out of the likes of Twitter.
Truth is the wider world don’t give two fncks about some knobhead’s opinions on social media.
I know I could enjoy the game more if I didn’t know as much as I do about the war in the background.
It changed my mind about the CL tonight too.
Liverpool fans this season very much see the winning of the CL as damage limitation. It is necessary to save an otherwise devastating season.
But if the win it it is still only a consolation prize and they know it.
Spuds winning it and they would be every bit as insufferable and holier than thou.
Means I can watch the game as a neutral again.
