who was it on bt last night that dropped a cheap shot with " city have 17 players all worth more than newcastles record signing then said its financial doping"

Ian Darke, a regular commentator of City matches.
I did think he must have had several changes of clothes, so much was he wetting himself in the last half hour.

It was his comment about the number of players that provoked Keown to blurt out "Financial doping"

bbc reporting last night rags draw with struggling burnley at home as a "gripping comeback " solskjaer said the side's fans were treated to a "typical Old Trafford finish" as they came from 2-0 down to rescue a dramatic point against Burnley.
"The comeback was brilliant, the players have been asked about how they would react if they went 1-0 or 2-0 down so I felt the comeback was fantastic,"
ycnmiu or why am I suprised when the bbc are based in salford full of rags

Football365 have pointed out that Ladyman's ((Mail) gushing report notes that this performance needing an injury time equaliser having been 2-0 down at home to Burnley will not do them any harm. Burnley are about 16th.

Coincidentally, Ladyman commented last season that a performance needing an injury time equaliser having been 2-0 down at home was embarrassing. The team that day? Burnley, who were 7th.

Eloquently put Mad Eye. Judging by the lack of an inteligent response you appear to have rendered our *rag/dipper/istry boy (*delete as appropriate) "guest" somewhat speechless.
I suspect with that name he is a Liverpool fan - I could go on about the Moores family financially doping Liverpool with Littlewoods pools money in the 60's and 70's....

He is speechless because he was banned,i'm not sure why he is being quoted by MES.

Darke also managed to come up with the immortal comments pre-last derby "I really think United can get something from this game"! Dead right, Ian - a right fuckin' battering!

They certainly should be. The inference, once again, that we are somehow cheating. He likes the sound of his own voice, Keown, clearly isn't comfortable with dead air.

However, the lead commentator is equally culpable for his prepared notes, which he clearly wanted to use to cite how we had 17 players over the £20m one Newcastle have, yet can't see the hypocrisy in how often they mentioned Mike Ashley's running of the club.

Personally, we should demand a public apology from Keown and do the bare contractual minimum when it comes to BT and future coverage.

Certainly not affording them sit downs with Leroy Sane.
bingo.

I would be interested to know which team you support as it helps my reply.
It had to take outside money to break the cartel operating that meant the same 4 clubs from England qualified for Europe every season (with the exception of a freak season when Everton and Spurs got in).
You see the so called big four and their European counterparts in the cartel financially doped the European Cup so it became the Champions league and with a format that pretty much guaranteed 3 home games and a huge chance (via seeding) that they would all make the latter stages (= more money via home games and TV).
No one ever mentions this cartel as financially doping the game. It meant the big four got richer and the gap between the rest widened. So the big four could buy the best players (how many times did the rags break the transfer record?) and pay the most in wages.
On top of this, the big four are on TV more in the premier League than the rest so they get more TV revenue and further widen the gap. No one EVER said ''this isn't a level playing field''. The poorer clubs never complained but just got on with it.
And then Chelsea and City come along and all of a sudden fans from the rags, Liverpool and Arsenal are screaming like the spoilt brats they are ''it isn't a level playing field'' ''how can we compete with that?'' - these self serving fans see no difference between forcing UEFA to give them more money or they will form their own league and demanding more money from the premier League at the expense of others and money coming in from outside sources. One is deemed ''self earned'' the other is dirty money. These fans are like MP's fiddling the expenses whilst saying ''it is within the rules'' - yes because the rules were created by themselves to be able to still feast at

Money the rags, Arsenal and Liverpool ''earned'' during the period when they were in Europe year in and year out is tainted. It was money earned whilst being able to play sides from Albania and Estonia in a tournament designed to ensure no big club was knocked out in the first round and no big club was pitted against another big club in the first 3 rounds..... but that is seen as clean money.
So as I said, the cartel / non level playing field needed smashing and the only way it could happen is via outside investment.... I don't hear fans from Fulham complaining loudly, or Watford or Burnley.... the only fans who seem to really be griped by City are the ones knocked off their guaranteed top four perch..... Liverpool, Arsenal and rags.... funny that, isn't it...

Can't argue with much of this.

But...

City got in just before the FFP drawbridge was raised, now we're in and most likely in to stay.

But our behaviour now we're on the inside, is no more enlightened towards the less fortunate clubs than the bloated hypocrites we replaced.

Very good point and one that will be ignored by many on here.

We’re turning into the same monster we replaced!

Interesting. Some solid examples of our behaviour would be helpful.
