You're probably right about this.

I suppose what bothers me is that we are *literally* the luckiest club in the world. Ten years ago we won the jackpot. And now we moan about referees /media /UEFA...

We have every right to.

As fans we're not asking for special treatment. All we want is a level playing field.

The way our club and our fans has been treated and vilified by UEFA, the PL, the media, and general Refereeing performances, has been nothing short of a disgrace on numerous occasions.

There is an agenda against Sheikh Mansour and City at the highest levels of UEFA and amongst the top PL and European cartel clubs. Fact! The stinkng evidence is everywhere.

And there are numerous Journalists, etc, who have made it their business to attack the club at any given opportunity.

Imagine the press United, Liverpool and Arsenal would get if any of those clubs were in City's position on the pitch. You'd never hear the last if it via every Mafia outlet.(special mention to BBC Sport/Football based at Mediacity)

So because Barca got fed up of paying us (in the terms of the contract) its our fault Dennis Suarez has not developed ....Im lost for words

Man City clause that hindered Denis Suarez's development and led to Arsenal loan move

The 25-year-old promised some of that Catalonia magic and because he played under Unai Emery earlier in his career at Sevilla, many assumed it wouldn't take long before he settled in at the Emirates.
But since signing in January, Suarez has played only 38 minutes of Premier League football and Emery, rather worryingly, admitted he is currently unable to rely on the Spanish midfielder to perform for 90 minutes.
"I am very demanding of myself to find the best performance with the players," said Emery in his presser on Tuesday.

"I think Denis Suarez is improving first with the adaptation every day and then his quality can give us a lot. I think it's not okay today to play 90 minutes, because he needs rhythm, but one possibility is to start tomorrow knowing that.

"Or, stay on the bench and after he can help us. And it's the same with other players."

Emery also played down Arsenal making the loan deal permanent at the end of the season.

"For me, it's so far away. The football, each match, each week, can change a lot," the Arsenal boss added.
"We are in every match, we are doing a test on everybody. My test like a coach is tomorrow and the players are the same. Our demands are very big demands.

"To work hard, to be with focus for each match to show us and show you, the players, the coaches, that we can improve and we can be better every day. For me the summer is so far away."

So where have things gone wrong?

Barcelona extended Suarez's contract until 2021 before sending him on loan to Arsenal. But it is precisely the Spaniard's contract that has, perhaps in someways, stifled his development to this point.

When Barcelona signed Suarez back in 2013, a contract agreement stated in his initial deal would see City paid £715,000 for every 10 first team appearances he made per season, according to Spanish publication SPORT.
When Suarez reached 54 La Liga appearances, Barcelona had already payed City £3.5million, and it's claimed that club officials started to grow tired of being forced to make these additional payments.

Due to the agreement, Suarez has not played consistent football for over five years now and this was highlighted by his pitiful 71 Barcelona appearances since 2013.

Suarez is still relatively young, and he may be able to turn things around, should he get a good run in the Arsenal first team this season.
But it's fair to say that his unusual contract may well have hindered his development at Barcelona and has resulted in the Gunners signing a 25-year-old work-in-progress as opposed to the finished article fans were expecting.

It's also fair to say that Suarez isn't what Emery - who worked closely with him as a youngster - was expecting when he made the Spaniard his no.1 target this January.

I like the way the article says Barcelona were forced to pay us, no you dick, it was a legitimate clause in a legally binding contract. That sort of clause is standard in most contracts regarding young players.

Mods: a favour. Can we have a media thread which just reports what the media is saying and writing about us, and another which is about the "agenda"?

I would just really love to be able to read about our media coverage without being exposed to people's self pitying tropes about the international conspiracy against city and how no one appreciates us.

You're right the media don't do bias. Raheem should take your advice and stop the self pity.

Anything in that contract that much out of the ordinary for appearance and performance related add ones or is just city that hold small clubs like Barcelona to ransom like this?

I hope it states every 10 first team appearances regardless of which team he plays for

Here is one for you, The actual paper edition of the Daily Telegraph has a Sports pull out. On Thursday the front page is a picture of the Dips and a headline 'Catch us if you can' after their win against somebody. But, that is not the reason for the post. The centre pages has a headline across the top …
'I Got Dumped By Manchester City After an Own Goal'
Ok their is a clue as to the story in the picture that accompanies it showing a bloke with a rugby ball. The (cough) story is about Tom Curry who is, as they describe, Englands break out star. he is 20 and it seems when he was 13 both him and his twin brother had a one game trial at City, his quote is 'I think it was that own goal scored that got us both kicked out'
The entire article, apart from that small section is about his rugby career but they chose that headline ! and he close that quote ! How effin bizarre.
Mind you it did also say he was/is a Rag

Just listened to the 5Live commentary of the Fulham v Chelsea match. I think the co-commentator was called Don Hutchinson, but I might be wrong. Wish the woman had mentioned him a bit more.

Stories like this are heartwarming- we are so getting to them. You can feel their pain and anguish. Hours spent making up shit about us simply because they can’t cope with us.

Unfortunately you can't separate the 2.
I agree. Without the context and evidence then discussion becomes more difficult. The agenda is now so obvious and has been for a good while that it’s actually tainting the season for me.
I and many of my vintage grew up with the deeds of the great teams and great players (some of them even rag) and rightly they are afforded their place in history. WE are a great team doing remarkable things under the tutelage of a football genius(not Alan Ball) and as it is barely acknowledged now I dread how history will judge City
