Iraq and Syria have been bombed out of existence and western journalists expect to see a flourishing democracy there. Really? Find me a liberal democracy in the Middle East.

Now some journalists say that that maybe true but these regimes are oppressive and we are guilty of whataboutery. Well yes we are because that is the way the world has been divided and it is why one region is 'free' and another is wracked by war and instability. You can not look on from your position of comfort and point your finger and say behave like a normal rational human being. This is not about good behaviour and bad behaviour it is about 200 years of economic development.

Do they really want a world where football and sport is Western only and the rest of the world is excluded from their sport because their countries are not so advanced? That is what this comes down to.
Don't forget that these countries are only allowed to have functional democracies when they vote for the leaders the West favour.

I really see and appreciate your sincerity but you are being dragged into a topic which is not really football related. Other than empty seats that's all they have left now.

BBC continues its scouse love in with the article on Mane - praising him for driving an 'ordinary car' to the mosque, and quoting an Imam.

Contrast this to how Sterling was treated for his choice of vehicle, and how our Middle East owner is portrayed by these biased ignorant hacks.

That'll be Mane's 'normal' £40-£50,000 Range Rover Evoque then? Or perhaps his Audi RS7 Sportsback which starts at circa £90,000?

It's so clear and obvious to me, they ran the article about Sane signing his new contract but no mention or speculation about how much he would be earning. Contrast that to the £300,000 per week Sterling will be earning which they ran for days on end.

I was just behind the home dugout . One of ours bottled a 60/40 challenge in our favour right in front of us and they broke away and scored their second, they just didn't give a shit. Just about summed up what we had become
Musampa?

Media hypocrisy reached a new low in June 2016 when Raz was widely criticised for buying his mum a luxury house. Just two months later Rashford did likewise and was widely praised for being a good son for looking after his mum and showing some financial acumen by investing in property.

Yeah... in other words, he's got a collection of cars worth 100's of £K's but likes to go to the Mosque in an old banger (which is still going to be a 15 grand mini or something) so he can play the 'man of the people' what a fake.

There was a nice story about Elano back in the day when he was at City - apparently sent 20% or more of his wages back to Brazil for a good cause and drove round in a Peugeot 306

Have you read this BBC investigation into who is Matthew Hedges. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-46318655

Good piece of investigation, but why couldn't the Guardian journalists have done likewise. I wonder if this story would have been published this morning had the UAE not released him?

Indeed, it's easy to criticise the UAE authorities about this this case but reading that article there is deffo a whiff of something about that guy. Looks like he got a bit careless and the UAE people decided to assert themselves a bit, which is exactly what I'd expect to happen. I doubt they intended to keep him for too long, a diplomatic solution was always on the cards.

Wonder how they'll cover @Bill getting the Warburtons gig ?

I totally agree. Sounds like he was far from just a normal PhD student! He got a bit too deep and UAE decided to act and flex their muscles to act as a deterrent. Fair enough. He won`t be packing his budgie smugglers anytime soon for the Dubai palm.

They were saying tonight, radio 4?, that when completing a landing card anywhere he will have to declare that he has a prison record. Life for spying. That should be fun going on holiday.

Doesn't sound like the kind of bloke you'd find in Fifth, at a student £1 a drink night
