Compared to Carragher my dog is Stephen Hawking.

Sorry to hear that.
It happens to us all eventually, including me.

Here is a recent picture of him on a good day to brighten up an otherwise sad exchange.

Would sooner listen to his analysis of football than either Carragher or Neville (and have regularly done over the years).

Excellent article by Martin Samuel in the sports section of the Sunday times today. Liverpool’s spending, breaking transfer records for gk, cb, dm, making Manchester City frugal by comparison. Also how ffp is helping to establish the Saudi league at the expenses of the PL, as clubs like wolves and city are not allowed to use their own money to keep players like Mahrez and Neves.

Like this bit

Yet should we be surprised? Manchester City get an awful lot of grief for inflating the transfer market, but are positively frugal compared to Liverpool. We now live in a world of £80m defenders because Liverpool paid £75m for Virgil Van Dijk, and of £70m goalkeepers because Liverpool went to £66.8m for Alisson Becker. Both were world records for the position at the time and it cannot be argued money wasn’t well spent. It did however skew the market, just as their £111m Caicedo bid is a game-changing fee for a defensive midfielder. Caicedo may one day help deliver the title to his new club and prove worth every penny, but let’s not pretend the ills of inflation land solely at City’s door.
