The media has always been about selling news or products (advertising). Huge swathes of the old newspaper industry have died due to being 20 years behind the times (pardon the pun) and broadcast news media is going the same way.
They are still of the misguided belief that the core of their market are red shirt fans. You need only look at the pundits to get see their thinking.
That isn't to say they aren't starting to recognise City because they are, but we are still very much the interlopers who are due a public downfall and they can't wait to write the inside story on that.
The sad truth is, even the headlines are downright misleading, and endless articles discussing the yesteryear achievements of United or 'greatest in PL history' analyses shows that journalism is morphing from into crowd pleasing and regurgitation.
At least in the old days, quality news was worth paying for. Nowadays, it can no longer compete with the immediacy of social media and has to lower itself to comic book status to try and survive.
