I think a lot of the 'Scholes hype' was because he was a down to earth lad. Beckham and the family man were like boyband members and so Scholes was seen as the local genius.
Think half of Zidane's comments were based on the fact he didn't think Beckham or Giggs were that special.
FWIW I thought he was the best of those three.

This all day long. He’s a selfish **** that made it all about him, shooting from 25yards, a few went in most went row z.
Now he was good technically & great athlete but if you added Lampards timing, Scholes vision then you’re getting closer to KDB. Hes not behind them, he’s all of them rolled into 1 but better.
