The quintessential rag supporting “impartial” journalistI love Slyman Stone as he reminds me so much of why I f..king hate the rags.

So was Alan Brazil if I remember right. It has happened before.
Remember Gary Birtles? He looked a world class player with Forest under Clough. He signed for United and was useless. He went back to Forest for peanuts and was back to form.
Premier League summer series World Cup champions ..Slimey Stone is currently knocking out thanks to his beloved rags winning a pot in the USA which is bigger than the CWC.
Probably on the Moston Red Sox or how 'Rashy' is getting onSo what was the one article he wrote about football?

That's now 32 out of his last 33 articles have been just about the rags and he's supposed to be the BBC 's chief football correspondent.
I'm absolutely convinced he's getting backhanders of Neil Ashton to write this many articles in such a small space of time.
No other premier league club gets this amount of coverage from the BBC

Long time ago but I vaguely remember being at stoke for Trevor francis debut? and he scored 2 I think? when Birtles had been at the rags for ages and not scored any & singing "Francis 2 Birtles 0"It has happened before.

And Moaninho had advantage over Pep due to his vast prem experienceI always remember the media jokers after his first season here and how he’d been ‘found out’. ‘You can’t play like that in the PL and win anything’.
Mind you, to be fair, there were a fair few on here saying the same…

Manchester United have looked better in pre-season - are they green shoots of recovery, or is it another false dawn?www.bbc.co.uk
Stone is getting absolutely slated in the comments, along with the BBC. Can't all be City fans.

Timeline definitely adds up mate.Long time ago but I vaguely remember being at stoke for Trevor francis debut? and he scored 2 I think? when Birtles had been at the rags for ages and not scored any & singing "Francis 2 Birtles 0"

Loads of blues there as normal at Stoke, felt like the start of something good but I think Francis was gone within 12 months?Timeline definitely adds up mate.
I never thought I would read an article comparing Guardiola to Stuart Lee.City to win another league title
Is this a prediction from Jonathon Wilson in The Guardian or his fear?
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/aug/02/17-years-tough-job-taking-pep-guardiola
Nothing last forever is obviously true.
Has Wilson ever written anything positive about City? Perhaps his declining time at The Guardian, without accountability to his readers and no opportunity to comment unlike other papers, is up and now it is right for him to move on. Few would miss him.
At the Club World Cup and now, at the start of this season, Guardiola appears refreshed and energised for the time ahead and new challenges. Yet, again, there is little balance in Wilson`s piece.
This season is probably the most unpredictable in many ways for a long time though we can probably still all agree that City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will feature in the top 4.
