Media discussion - 2025/26

Even if we take this at face value, the news is expecting football to be clear of every bad trait the human condition has acquired over god knows how long?

Surely nobody is that stupid to respond to soundbites that are as meaningless as they sound?
Exactly.(and please bear with me here)
A headline in the Irish Daily Mail this morning announced almost 20% of Irish youths (actually just shy of 19% of 18-24yr olds would welcome a Donald Trump visit to the country. And hey, look, maybe 19% would).
At the same time, just over 18% of the same demographic said they'd oppose and demonstrate any Trump visit.
Kinda standard stuff for kids of any age, on most political subjects, I would have thought.
Yet, the Irish Daily Mail chose that headline...

To get back to your point (thanks for sticking with me). The fuckers propagandise a mindset and then act surprised when a certain amount of society demonstrate that way of thinking.

I'm an old man now - and one of no great influence too - but Media Studies shouldn't just be a univerisity course anymore. It really should start in primary school.

EDIT: all typos corrected now I think. Sorry about that.
It's almost like I'm drunk in Tenerife after a 4-0 away win this evening.

Say that again ….,

You’re the first person to quote that figure as fact, previously it was “believed to be” and “reportedly”. What’s your source?
It has been reported in the Daily Mail, The Sun and the Manchester Evening News. These organisations report news stories. That's what they do. Once they have reported their story it is reportedly a fact, or so I believe.
