Media discussion - 2025/26

A week almost since Chelsea were hit with 74 financial charges, which they've accepted their guilt on.
I've heard very little reporting or mention of it in the media, social media, or general chat between fans.

No one seems to care. Paddy Power hasn't even bothered with his long line of shit jokes on Twitter

Two reasons i suspect

1 - Chelsea haven't won many titles of late. They're a mid table club who don't really threaten

2 - their owners are white Americans.

on the other hand, Dave Kidd in the Sun sums it up nicely...

TONIGHT is the night when it will truly begin to hit home.

The night when their Europa League final conquerors Tottenham kickoff their Champions League campaign against Villarreal, shortly after Arsenal face Athletic Bilbao.

Tomorrow, Chelsea visit Bayern Munich and bitter rivals Liverpool host Atletico Madrid.

And then Newcastle welcome Barcelona to St James' Park on Thursday night, while Manchester City offer a hero's welcome to Kevin De Bruyne ? as well as Rasmus Hojlund, who has already shown up Manchester United by scoring on his debut on loan at Napoli.

There will be a sixpronged attack on Europe's elite club event, with nine Premier League clubs in all competing on the Continent this season.

And United will not be among them.

For any United fans who find it too painful to tune in and have a look at what they could have won, had they defeated the worst Spurs team in half a century in Bilbao last May to qualify for the Champions League, the choice is clear.

Midsomer Murders, The Great British Bake Off or Michael Portillo's 200 Years of the Railways, on BBC2, where a former Tory minister will drive a steam locomotive between Stockton and Darlington.

This is life as a bottom half club and United had better get used to it.

The conkers have barely started falling and already Ruben Amorim's team have only the FA Cup to play for this season.
Love this bit, personally I,d go bake off, Midsomer Murders bit to close to home for the rags I'd of thought :-)

Surely the Newton Heath boys will go with the Railways

Errrrm . . . yep

This is Haaland who currently has a ten year contract. You would be probably looking at around £340 million to make City even think about selling him for a split second.

Surely they don’t need anyone when they have sir Marcus of fish fingers fighting the good for fight for them.
Speaking of which, Barca won 6-0 on Sunday and the BBC went with the headline "Rashford gets his 1st assist for Barcelona".
Wow he must be awesome

I think you can look at how the Premier league worked with journalists to deliberately drive up the agenda that City are guilty of cheating. It’s the reason the people responsible have to be dealt with.

Think he changed it recently due to the backlash on every daily Utd story from fans of other clubs moaning that there are 91 other clubs bar the Rags to report on.
I am amazed we still let him in now he is the Rags reporter, let alone ask questions. We should insist on our Manchester City reporter to attend and if there isn't one, bar the BBC access.
I submitted a FoI to the BBC with questions about Stone and his role They pretty much refused to answer hiding behind the journalism clause in FoI they did offer the below explanation

We have carefully considered your request and concluded that it is clear from your de-
scription of the information you are seeking that if the BBC held information of the kind
you have asked for, it would all be held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature.
The FOI Act does not apply to information held by the BBC for any of those purposes. This
is explained in an information sheet enclosed with this letter. To be clear, in this case we
have not searched for any information since any that we found would be non-disclosable,
and the searches would not serve any useful purpose.
However on this occasion, we are happy to voluntarily provide the below information in
response to your request:
“Simon Stone's role is chief football news reporter for BBC Sport. He reports on some of
the biggest stories in the world of football and is also one of a group of journalists that
cover specific Premier League clubs. Part of Simon's role is to cover key events involving
Manchester United, and this is the same as our other journalists following their assigned
club at key times. We can assure you that we’re always mindful of the costs behind putting
together our output, while at the same time trying to provide the best possible service to
audiences.

I then submitted a further FoI asking for a comprehensive list of the names of the group of journalists that cover specific PL clubs the deadline for the reply expires tomorrow 17th

Im trying to build a case to show that the BBC has a bias towards the rags which is in contradiction of their charter I will appeal to the Information Commissioner as to their refusal to provides the answers to my original questions as I believe they are hiding behind the clause

At the very least it will cause them some work in answering the ICO

Rory Smith was on the Monday Night Club (BBC 5LIve) discussing utd's woes. Pauls Scholes says he couldn't understand why utd didn't go for Donnarumma?

Smith says Donnarumma wanted utd because of their history, BUT they couldn't match City's wages!!!

So the CL winner wanted NO European football over us??????????

He's a classic rag!
he's a dippers fan

Kiddo, Kiddo, Kiddo.....

I've never heard of him, will he still have a job tomorrow?

Sam cuntingham posting about burnley and Everton starting a legal battle from 2022 relegation.

You have 1 guess to name the two representative players they chose!

Great work blue.
If nothing else it will take their attention away from protecting the numerous paedos and deviants on their payroll.

BBC online gives virtually no coverage to most PL clubs. It is an overt bias. They might argue they do it for commercial revenues because they take adverts on their overseas websites where LFC and MUFC will dominate. But the BBC is funded by taxpayers so it has to have a broader responsibility.

Attack dog Herbert is at it again.

It's funny how Herbert has suddenly started to unleash his bile and hatred of City via successive articles about a City.

View attachment 169648
This is an embarrassing article with not a scrap of new information. He still doesn't know who owns the club, and is still pushing the line the only reason Abu Dhabi (whoever that is) only purchased City was to promote the state's reputation. Sheikh Mansour has more than quadrupled the value of his original investment and US firm Silver Lake have bought 23 percent of City. Sheikh Mansour has a huge investment portfolio in the UK including the tech sector, Education, property, and the financial sector. So far he has made multiple billions of profit. Does this mean the new Co-op live arena has only been developed for "music washing" purposes. It is sad to see how low the UK media has fallen when some elements of it have become fixated on conspiracy theories.
