Media discussion - 2025/26

Agree that some of the people moderating comments are very junior staff who appear to have very little grasp of media law. The big problem is the lack of editorial scrutiny of the entire operation. For example who is siging off on the ridiculous PR output from Simon Stone? There is no attempt at balance.
When youve got an ex Rag in Coppack in control its self explanatory and unaccountable.

The BBC is just too large to be governed properly (a bit like the NHS). There are some talented people who work there but the organisation has become out of control and detached from mainstream thinking outside the London bubble. It has no significant broadcasting rights for our national sport so its only role for football must be fair analysis and comment. But instead it has become a clickbait operation pandering to the lowest common denominator. There are already hundreds (perhaps thousands) of football-related clickbait operations. BBC online essentially duplicates what is already supplied by the marketplace. This is can't be justified as a fair use of public money.

But it can justify 1 club having its own senior football reporter, and spend alot of money paying that person.

Looks like you are better at getting results than me :-) Maybe if we all took a bit of time to object to some of the shit posted on line about our club they might actually think twice before publishing it?
Can but hope but I think they have their established market of redshirts to cater to.

I try and avoid HYS as whilst it could or should be interesting on occasion it’s almost always the same old shit from the mindless cretins.

This coming from an organisation that openly knew about Saville, Edwards etc etc tells you everything you need to know.
Totally ignore the bastards and don't give them any credit by thinking you can hold a reasoned conversation with them regarding who's right and who's wrong.
I just believe whenever we have grounds for complaint we should do it. At some point they will collapse like a pack of cards.

Because the same outlets would then say City owners shutting down free speech. It would go viral, more bad press , more fans and general idiots on SM getting involved.
That is why.

Save artillery for the big battles. Our OWNER or rather his subordinates will react to any personal vitriol in a commensurate manner.
I'm sorry, but regardless of the outcome, they have lost the battle, the smear campaign has already won, when we win this case, the new accusations will be how we bought the not guilty verdict.

I'm not stupid enough to not understand the reason you gave, but after 12 months, it was obvious to anybody that what they had been doing wasn't working, they have left City fans to defend their club alone.

I find it very easy to discuss the unresolved case with any fan who decides to take me to task.
After 20 minutes they wish that they has never said anything and rarely mention the subject again.
Arm yourself with the facts and it is quite easy, and good fun.

Never ever looked at HYS. Pointless.
Quite, me too..

When coming across a 'Have Your Say' column, whichever media outlet is concerned, I'm always reminded that it's pointless to get involved reading what's in there, simply by recalling the sage advice of Isaac Asimov that the contributors* will be of the mind that "My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.."

(* or as we used to call them, when growing up in Hulme in the 50s/60s, 'those stupid tw*ts'..)

I'm sure we tried this a few years back, varying degrees of success but the wording of the emails hasn't changed much over the years

As anticipated BBC leading with pic of Phil blaming the failed experiment last night on him ironically the lead pic has Phil and Mr Punch together on the pitch in England shirts where the story is about Phil be an option if Mr Punch doesnt play

You'd hope Phil was made of teak, the amount of directed kickings he takes from our national BBC.
They always blame him if England don't win a game, and then don't give him any credit when they do win.
It just seems so obvious now that it's another avenue they exploit to attack anything Manchester City, and feeding their trolls in the process

Personally, I hope Phil isn't selected, mainly because England went backwards the second we put Tuchel in charge. This world cup will be a quick flying visit for the team IMO. We should've stayed English and gone for Potter, get a conveyor of English managers going.

I made three complaints regarding a "cheating" comment. They moved it eventually when I explained what libel laws are.

The culture there is to treat complaints about online comments as an in-house joke. Apparently there is a lot of laddish banter. I have given up complaining to them. The culture will never change at the BBC. It is out of control but no one has the balls to sort it out.

it will be interesting to experiment after the cup game this weekend. if (let’s hope) we win then post a simple “deserved winners against a bunch of cheats Liverpool who cheat on and off the pitch”. then post a separate post “we may have lost to City but at least we don’t cheat both on and off the pitch”. Post them ten minutes apart and watch the second one get accepted and the first rejected
