Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

Really hope Sterling doesn't start next game. Don't think he had a good game, and probably was one of the obvious players to be submitted. But the misses by Lingard, the way Ali faded and the poor passing of Young, and all the crap free kicks are just ignored by England fans and yet such hate comes Raheems way. He should be used as a sub with a chance to become the England hero when one of the above players are hooked off.
Lingard made his senior debut for Leicester in 2012 and his Manure debut in 2014. Since then he has amassed the magnificent total of ..... 24 goals for Manure, plus a handful in the lower divisions. Raheem has scored almost as many in one season as Lingard in his entire Manure career. Nuff said.

As much as I enjoy shitting on Lingard and your point is valid, your maths is wrong.

Lingard made his competitive debut for United in 2014 not 2011 and has 24 goals excluding his loan spells outside the PL, not including them (including them it's 36). Sterling got 23 this season so unfortunately the "more in one season..." doesn't work.

Still, point remains, Lingard is shit.

For Raheem's sake hopefully Dele Alli isn't fit for the next game, and that will mean Sterling plays with Rashford or Loftus-Cheek, both of whom would be better than Alli for an English perspective and for Sterling to link up with. Rashford's capable of keeping up with him - a couple of times tonight Sterling broke forward and no one was around, and Loftus-Cheek will actually pass to him, whereas Alli only has eyes for Kane in the final third.

If he's dropped then I worry Pep will have another rebuilding job on his hands come August/September.

Sincere.
Said he should start to give him a chance to build up confidence.

The only two people in the media that seem to be appreciating Sterling are Ferdinand and Neville. The rest are crucifying him and proclaiming Rashford as the saviour.
This evening has reminded me of why I can’t get behind England at major tournaments: clueless, moronic England fans who have no ability to think for themselves. They just jump on what the pundits and media say and regurgitate and follow, mindlessly. The sooner England are out, the better. Then I can enjoy watching Silva, De Bruyne, Aguero, et al. in peace.

I had that experience watching the match with a couple of dozen people where there was constant sniping every time he lost the ball but not a peep when anyone else did. I still want England to win but I’ll be watching the next match on my own.

I gave up watching England games in a pub a couple of tournaments ago. It winds me up to much.

England were shit being honest. Sterling nothing worked for him. As in nothing worked for Ali or Henderson at times. Southgate hasnt got a clue in what way to play this team. The Hypejob aka Rashford aint in Sterlings league at the moment and to see him on for Sterling was madness when Ali was carrying a injury for nearly a hour. He should of went off. Lucky for England they got Harry Kane as hes got goals in him. Shocked that Vardy didnt get a run out as it was a game for him tonight.
