Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

Yep, James Hunt was a loveable rogue and celebrated from the rafters.

Hamilton is one of the greatest sportspeople this country has ever produced and is treated like absolute shit.

Came from absolutely nothing and the ultimate glass ceiling breaker for that particular sport.

Read the Formula one thread on here and it's exactly what you've just typed, some absoulte fuckin tools on there with an hatred for Lewis.

The "it's because he left Liverpool" line so often repeated on Bluemoon simply doesn't hold weight, he was getting this long before he even thought about leaving. The Sun was claiming he had 8 kids when he was 18, they went mental because he got given a week off and went to Jamaica or when Hodgson rested him after he said he was feeling fatigued in training.

Liverpool played their part. They intentionally played up the "greedy ungrateful brat" image by using press conferences to attack him and refusing him the right of reply to tell his side in the 2015 contract dispute, but the tabloids had it in for him long before it could possibly have been motivated by appeasing a Liverpool supporting audience.
Agreed. But it wasn,t just the 'greedy black footballer seeks move ' angle..the whole scenario was intensified by the greedy black agent who engineered the move...Sterlings agent,i imagine is not part of the super agents club . who powerfully influence the output of so many of the football journalists./experts

Witness John Alridge,s claim that "Sterlings agent is leading the player down the garden path..and the player is better off where he is"

Ive not heard Alridge come out and say he was wrong..and given that Sterling simply left a club who he clearly felt couldnt bring him the sucess he craved, and bagged a big wage rise in return, before winning the title..its perhaps fair to say the player simply mirrored Alridges move from Oxford to Anfield all those years ago.....with a hefty pay rise..to win honours. If just one of those former liverpool players now put their head above the parapet and said they were wrong..and Sterling and his agent were right.it may just go a tiny way in redressing the balance ..and perhaps claw back a litte respect from fair minded observers of the controversial move.
Dont hold your breath......

Spot on. Aldridge had the diplomacy to take the mickey out of Brian Laws (for an og I think) in the rearranged 1989 semi at old trafford. He represents everything about liverpool for me. Boot room toss pot.

He is a legend for the achievements in formula one but he doesn’t help himself off the track. Posting pictures on Instagram preaching climate change to everyone else when he is driving round in a formula one car, various other super cars and travelling himself and his dog around the world in a private jet to attend fashion shows. Also preaching to people about a vegan lifestyle and plant based diets but promoting an energy drink filled with crap to kids. Posting photos of pigs thrown in a skip telling people to change their lifestyles, yet the luxury cars he drives in (and probably that private jet) have leather seats.

All of that is nothing to do with the colour of his skin. ??

Great piece by Henry Winter in today's Times.
"Sterling's not flash. He's not extravagant. He's an exceptional professional, pivotal to club and country, a role model to a generation and deserving of proper respect."
"Laughably, shamefully,,wrongly, there is a portrayal of Sterling in parts of the media of a wayward bling kid. It is a complete lie."
Well said, Henry

Winter seems To bee one of very few journalist that seems to get it. Most seem to be scratching their heads trying to justify the piffle they have written. Anthony Joseph being a case in point - he jumped aboard the black players don’t know their place debate and is now defending his article saying it was topical. Terrorising jews in Nazi Germany was topical but it didn’t make it right. I suspect much of the utter shit and lies that get written about our club is motivated by the nationality of our owners who are seen as an easy and convenient target.

From the moment raheem signed for us this has been nothing but a systematic witch hunt from the scouse loving media to the dozens of ex-Liverpool player's who couldn't wait to put the boot in,and not one of them should have a clear conscience in this whole sordid and disgusting affair.

Must give him a buzz.

The root of it all. He was deemed fair game, so the knuckle draggers joined in. I can never imagine anyone calling Kyle Walker, or Vinny Kompany or for that matter Danny Welbeck or Marcus Rashford the shite that was aimed at Sterling. It is 100% down to the media witch hunt against the guy since he signed for us.

Yeah couldn't agree more.
