It doesn't matter if he has won somehting or not.It is a personal award not a team award.
One can argue that KDB is playing in a much better team and doesn't need to raise his levels as much as Salah has to.
When a footballer shines in a bad team then that says something whereas when playing with better players it is easier to produce results.
So if Salah wins it won't be a travesty.Look at his goals & assists. Also the manner of his goals.
As for team of the year I agree you guys ,City, should get it easily!
or one could rightly argue that De Bruyne has led City to a whole new level that has left them 16 points clear, whereas Salah has basically covered for the fact the club sold Coutinho and the likes of Mane who have done sod all unless they've played us.
This fallacy used to taint our players continually that they "play in a great team so therefore it's no surprise". Well we're 22 points up on this stage last season and a large part of why we've improved so drastically is because De Bruyne has been instrumental and inspirational. Salah has been terrific but De Bruyne's impact has resonated around Europe and has changed the course of this season.
De Bruyne set up the first 2 goals in the 5-0.
He scored the opener at home to Shakhtar.
He scored the winner against Chelsea.
He pulled off 2 of the best assists in PL history against Stoke.
He set up the match-winning goal against Napoli.
He pulled off another brilliant assist against Burnley.
He scored the opener against Arsenal.
He scored the opener and set up Sterling's winner against Southampton.
He scored the key 2nd goal away at Leicester.
He set up the winner against West Ham.
He scored the key 2nd goal against Spurs, minutes after nearly having his leg broken by Alli.
He set up the winner at Newcastle.
He came back in 2 days despite nearly having his leg broken again at Palace.
He scored the equaliser in the semi-final v Bristol City.
He set up the opener at home to Newcastle.
He scored the opener at Cardiff.
He set up the opener and scored the 2nd against WBA.
He set up the first 3 goals against Leicester.
He set up the opener in Basel.
A season full of key moments and that's before you look at all the times he contributes to move but doesn't get the assist or goal against his name, like that brilliant blind pass he did against Stoke for example, or his set pieces at Old Trafford which cause chaos and got us 2 goals.
Salah's been great but De Bruyne has defined many of the key moments of City's season and it's made the difference. He absolutely deserves Player of the Year. Salah will deserve his Golden Boot which will reflect the brilliant individual season he's had carrying Liverpool, but De Bruyne has moved City and top level English football forward this year, he's turned it into something different than what we've seen before in this country.
