An *exclusive* hatchet job by *Richard Wheatstone of the Sun*.

Not just a small article, but a full and in-depth report on City's attendance figures.

The only other club that get's a slight mention in the article is Southampton.

No mention of United, Arsenal(how many empty seats at Arsenal Yesterday and throughout the season), Spurs, WestbHam, etc.

It's obvious this f***er has been given the go ahead by his Editor in Chief to have at City and our support.

Perhaps Richard could explain this. According to him via the Police, the crowd against Stoke was *28,405*. That's roughly 26,000 down on the Etihad capacity of 54,000+. Almost half. So that would mean 2 stands would have been empty.

Question. When did any of you ever see 2 stands empty at the Etihad for a PL match? Exactly!

More bullshit from the PL cartel loving Sun/Media, as City close in on another PL title.

*Last season, the Blues' 0-0 draw at home to Stoke drew a crowd of just 28,405 - just over half of the official crowds of 52,625*.

The headline of course is screamingly misleading. The last time I went to school 53998 minus 46229 equalled 7769. The Sun claims this number (7769) is “nearly 10000”. Exaggeration to the tune of about 25%. A bit like standing in Newcastle and claiming that Bristol is near Plymouth. That aside though I wouldn’t be inclined to reject what are very specific numbers, completely out of hand. 3 of our first 7 opponents at the The Etihad brought less than 1000 fans with them. Assign a guesstimate average away support of circa 1800 per match, and you’re left with a figure of around 6500 home end empties per match if The Sun is to be believed. That’s about 1 seat in 8 empty. Go to any midweek game and the family stand is at best 2/3rds to 3/4’s full, and there’s invariably 1 or 2 empties in all the rows near me in the South Stand even for 3pm Saturday kick offs, unless we’re playing one of the top 6.

The key issue though is that we are not, as the media is trying to imply, unique. The difficulty getting to and from games moved at short notice to inconvenient times by TV companies, both in terms of time and cost, impacts all fans, and without the inbuilt advantages our immediate rivals enjoy we are bound to be susceptible. The rags and the dippers have foreign and domestic plastic fans by the bucketload to take up the slack, and the London clubs similarly benefit from a casual tourist market on their doorstep (ie tourists to the capital just looking to attend any Premier League game rather than to watch a specific team). Chelsea and Spurs also have grounds with lower capacities than the Sun’s claimed average attendance at the Etihad. Tellingly it’s always easy to spot the empties at Arsenal. Ultimately though it’s just the only stone they’ve got to throw at us
