I think the club are just as sick of the constant sniping as we are and probably do want to f**k them off. Unfortunately they
know we would then most definitely become Manchester (Anti Christ) City and the hatred and spouted bile would get even worse. The best and only way we can deal with these clowns is to win as many trophies as possible and whilst doing so producing attractive football that is so pleasing on the eye that any of the media puppets negativity would sugget they were plain stupid.
Cone on, we already are the Anti-Christ and no amount of pandering to selected members if the press will change that. The only way it will change is if the Sheikh buys or becomes a major shareholder in a major newspaper group - probably the Mirror as they own the MUEN - maybe becomming a major shareholder in Sky or News International to boot.
If he doesnt do this then declaring total war on the press is the only way to change things.

I can't disagree with the essence of what you're saying, but I think our owners have to much class to get involved with a grubby rag infested red top like the Mirror. A share in Sky could be a future possibility and in all Fairness I think Rupert Murdoch was in Monty Burns Dad's class at school and once he's toes up I could see multi ownership of his corporation. I'd pay good money to see the looks on the faces of those self obsessed, self important halfwits from Soccer Saturday, as they get their P45's, as Buzzer, Lakey, Gio and Uwe pass them in the Sky Sports Corridor to take up the seats of Big Nose and Hoover Nose.

You're right Oakie, it is becoming an obsession with Sly Sports News.

*As Bournemouth prepare to host Manchester City on Saturday, live on Sky Sports, we take a look at the stark contrast in transfer money spent by the Premier League sides…

With Pep Guardiola aiming to better the third-place finish his side managed during his first season at the helm, Manchester City have spent more money during this summer's transfer window than Bournemouth have in their 118-year history*

I admit I could be wrong, but if it was United playing Bournemouth instead of City, do you honestly think their spending under Jose would have been used in the report? We all know the answer to that, don't we. No!

PS.

I'm obsessed with you as well. ;-)
Now I am fucking worried !! ;)

I sit somewhere in the grey zone for the institutionalized bias; I dont believe 3rd round league cup draws are rigged, i still believe we're in the realms of chance for 11 away cup draws and i do believe the media treatment is b'cos papers need the clickbait and scandal and are populist by their very nature, which (like it or not) means hammering City and sucking off United & Liverpool.

However, the refs in recent years do raise an eyebrow but do you have time to study decisions that go against Arsenal? Chelsea? surely we can only comment when we've seen all the evidence. I dont think football is corruption free by any standards but i'm yet to be convinced by an anti-City conspiracy.

But i do think they require a core of clubs to be doing well, at national and European level, and the quote from Richard Scudamore (exec of our beloved PL) from 2014 should never be forgotten: "When your most popular club isn't doing as well, that costs you interest and audience...There are lots of fans around the world who wish Manchester United were winning it again"

Here's the problem with banning people. I said earlier in the thread that I had a theory that Abu Dhabi use City as a lightning rod. In fact the only time legal action has been publicly taken is when one of the papers (The Sun?) published a false story that Sheikh Mansour had given each player an expensive watch. In the grand scheme of things that's not the worst thing that's been written about us but we took legal action. The message was clear; keep the Sheikh out of it or face the consequences.

So if we start banning people then the risk is that journalists equate that with written and unwritten media restrictions in Abu Dhabi. That's the last thing our owners want I'd imagine.

Correct. As long as you have an understanding of the reasons the media reporting is as it is you can laugh it off to some extent.
Keeping " your enemies closer" is the more advantageous of the two possible approaches.
The downside is that 99% of idiots believe the rubbish and the image of mcfc as the demonic club.
In the past when mentioning you are a city fan, the response would be " great support"or "always liked City". Now it's "50 million for a fullback" or "mercenaries " The image the media wish to portray has been accepted by the masses. No one outside Manchester knows about the community work, the regeneration of the area etc.
Perhaps a media outlet is part of the future planning when a tipping point is reached.
The worst thing is that some City fans also regurgitate the sound bites that the media advertise as truth.

I really don't understand how it has got to this point; how we have become an absolute pariah in the eyes of practically every media outlet in the country.

Apart from gatecrash the Big 4 party in 2012, we haven't actually done anything wrong. Yet the disparity on reporting is stark.

Imagine Pep goes to the Scum or the dippers: Under Pep's management they spend the same amount of money we have spent to rebuild their team, he would be hailed a team building genius without even having kicked a ball.

We have a number of players out or contract at the end of last season, forcing us to spend big in the current transfer market and we are constantly labelled as oil money big spenders who have single handedly ruined football as we know it (even though it is clear for all to see the Scum have broken more transfer records in the PL since they signed Camel Gob); damned if we win, damned if we don't.

Apart from gatecrash the Big 4 party in 2012, we haven't actually done anything wrong. Yet the disparity on reporting is stark. This is the only reason. Although Chelsea hit it big time they were also rans of the top four, the other 3 could still keep the monopoly of champions league money. When Arsenal moved from Highbury they didn't have to invest in the squad as they could finish easily in the top four. Liverpool and the scum could still lord it over us and the rest of the premier league.
Then there worst nightmare happened and we smashed the cartel. I still believe that most sporting journalist are London based which is why, if Spuds or West Ham had been backed by Sheik Mansour then the uproar and smear campaign would not have been so bad.
On a persoanal note I would love it (Kevin Keagan) if we came out to the tunes Big Spender and the Beverly Hillbillies.

My concern about the media negativity is that it is not declining. Chelsea suffered for a few years when they were taken over but since we came along the focus has been on us. Don't underestimate the impact of behind the scenes briefing against us from the established cartel clubs. That FFP letter was just the start and is the tip of an iceberg. When you think how much flak Mancini got for winning the league with a core of six English players and a cheaper team than the rags at the time it seems incredible. The press mocked Pellegrini relentlessly though he won a double in his first season with a team which was the highest scoring in all competitions in the history of English football and then reached the Champions League semi-final. Pep is under fire because he treats the sports press pack with the contempt they deserve. The club has to adopt a much more proactive PR approach. It would placate our fans and create a positive siege mentality. It would make commercial sense. We need our key leaders including Khaldoon to be more publically visible. Our management team needs to step up to the plate. If we ignore it it will not go away.
