Watched the game again, so much easier when you know the result in advance!

At half time last night I was much closer to Joleon Lescott’s worried feelings than to Owen Hargreaves’ confidence and yet rewatching it I can see exactly why Hargreaves was so insistent we would win. At the time I thought he was just going to jinx us.

Got a lot of time for Hargreaves as a pundit; unspectacular but calls things in a fair and balanced way.

Interestingly, none of the media pundits seems to be aware that, in the last decade, since 2011, whilst this is our second semi-final appearance, those giants of European football, manchester united have qualified for precisely none.

The BBC's live page brings together the reactions to the previous night's games and incidents. But very strangely there's no mention of the attack on Real Madrid's coach. It's a significant talking point because as we know it's the second such attack in 3 years by Dipper fans at a Champions League game. Very odd that - I wonder if they're trying to bury bad news.

All opposition they face in the Europa League next season should highlight the coach attacks prior to the game and make sure UEFA is taking note. Merseyside Police will do fuck all as usual

I notice the BBC have reported it all day as "an incident of vandalism" involving a small number of supporters. But the videos show differently. It was an organised attack on the coach. It may have only been a few missiles (unlike the hundreds thrown at the City coach) but the crowds outside the stadium are much bigger than 400 as reported. It is being played down. Had this involved for example Milwall or even City fans they would have been slaughtered by the press.

I think Hargreaves is a good pundit. He is very balanced and fair considering his strong links to the Rags. He also seems to understand football tactics, a rarity in the BT team.

So far ourselves , United and Real Madrid have all been attacked getting to Anfield, to say nothing of 39 dead Italians. If this had been ourselves or Leeds or Chelsea we would have been looking at a European ban minimum. Doubt anything will happen to the dippers, no one arrested I imagine.

So the Merseyside police did nothing then about a mass gathering during a pandemic

Ive not seen the footage but assume all their fans were wearing face masks and lobbing bricks at the correct social distances

Having said that that’s not that much different if there isn’t a pandemic

Nobody saw anything! Just like the 100+ objects which hit our coach. Nobody saw that either, especially the police.
