And a free market far right Tory government is going to force this thru. Yeah right.
In principle you are right but I wouldn't be 100% confident. This gov nationalized two rail networks.
The obvious compromise is to mandate that each club grants 1 golden share to a fan's trust which must vote in favour of a list of major changes.

The American sports, NHL, NBA, NFL, MLS etc, would seem to indicate that a far right (in comparison to UK), full-on capitalist govt, is extremely happy and comfortable to have a communist style closed shop arrangement for it's major sports?
Brings it down to what everything is about, money.

Every political figure/chairman etc have the morals of a sewer rat and would sell their partners kidney if they could turn a profit.

Been like that forever but in these social platform & media runarounds now it's seen as it is, no shame and blatant.

Moves are afoot to stop breakaways.
The 50+1 rule is under consideration.
Ultimately these moves will fail because they are trade restraints. Few people in the football hierarchy understand that, legally, the breakaways did nothing wrong.
The first moves should be about bringing debt into ffp calculations. Debt caused the spanish clubs to push the superliga at this moment. Longer term, UEFA must become a regulator only and not a promoter of tournaments. Herein lies a big issue: clubs sit on the executive of UEFA and have a vested interest in shaping those tournaments. The new CL format is an example, more games, co-efficient engineering, protected status for 'legacy' clubs. A regulator should be putting player welfare ahead of money making. So, look to the organization's name and get clubs off the boards.
Many more measures available, but enough for now.
City fans? Demand meaningful fan representation within the club, not patronizing talking shops.
Wise words.

It's absolute bollocks.

A 51 per cent stake in City is worth about £2bn.

We also have other shareholders, who gives up what?

More importantly, where the fuck do the fans get the money to give owners of the clubs their other half back?
Spot on Tommie. I wonder who will be the first journalist to ask Bozo this question as it’s the next logical one, along with why his Party has failed to help clubs who reached out for help when being taken over.

It’s just political posturing. A standard government review will take 18months and tell everyone what they already know. Stop leveraged buyouts and control costs. And get the Footy Lge to tighten the wording in their constitution. Really hope that the alleged discussion with Woody prior to the announcement exposes him for the lying arse he is.
