A severely under strength England managed to pull off a Miraculous victory over the Worlds second best team in Croatia.
Manager Southgate was deprived of nearly all his star players as Trent, Jordan, Luke , Harry , Mason and Marcus were not deemed fit to start the opening group match.
In the early stages Foden showed his lack of experience as his poorly hit open goal somehow hit the post.In Fact England’s front three including the £195 million inbound City player Kane were wasteful in the extreme.
It took a sublime piece of skill from Man Utd target Kalvin Phillips to create the only goal of the game which Sterling somehow fortuitously bundled across the line.
Marcus was then introduced to add confidence in the ranks replacing the ill disciplined Foden.
Despite a couple of scares at the back involving g Walker and Stones victory was ensured thanks to Man Utd targets Trippier , Rice and Mings.
Southgate will be happy with the win but will need to strengthen the right hand side of defence and both wings to ensure a long campaign.
