Yesterday about 0520 there was a piece lasting about 20 minutes about Saint Marcus - 'the renowned social justice campaigner'.
An hour or so later on BBC Breakfast there's a piece on Captain Sir Tom Moore and his efforts to raise money for the NHS. Familiar and touching sights of him walking doggedly up and down on his frame. Then who should feature but David fucking Beckham making a presentation from the England team to Sir Tom. I dont know how he comes to represent the England team a dozen years after he played for them and I had hoped he had buggered off to the USA for good like Prince Harry.
This morning straight after the NW news who do we get but Saint Marcus on again. Switched channels and checked back 10 minutes later and its still on. Is there no escape from the nationally funded publicity machine? I mean l know there is not much else going on such as record Covid deaths, record new hospital admissions, the likelihood of other teams being affected by Covid.
Where can l hide from this barrage of rag coverage under the cover of 'news'?
Has the cavalry just arrived with the second vaccine both for medical reasons and to give the BBC something newsworthy to report?
Truly fed up of hearing about Rashford and Capt Tom, they've done their bit in the headlines now is the time for quiet philanthropy and good deeds. It's no coincidence both are backed by Publicity machines. There's loads of people out there who continually work hard to help those less fortunate, for them it's a vocation and not a fleeting good deed. Think I read somewhere Capt Tom is in Barbados on holiday, great for him, hope he's found a big garden to walk round in the 80 degree sunshine whilst those who run shelters for the homeless are freezing their tits off and still providing a service under these extreme conditions.

I can never work Frank out....apparently travels from o the south coast to games so must have Talkragshite/Radio 5 on for hours, some people on here know him personally so he is real but then bangs head day after day on Bluemoon saying back is white, makes you wonder why he bothers.
The other day when people were having a go at Darke's bias he condescendingly said something about us taking things out of context. Shortly afterwards Darke himself made his comment about us being sensitive. So we had CFS and Darke both basically saying the same thing.
'I am right and all you lot are wrong.'

Unfortunately W G Grace was unavailable but Sir Tom deserves any recognition he receives for his efforts, Beckham was a bit of a slap in the face though.

Leeds United have publicly called out Karen Carney on Twitter over comments she made. Somewhat ironically people like Matterface complaining it just encourages fans to pile on those pundits.

I think we'd say that if clubs held people to account more for the ridiculous and often offensive things they've said it might encourage those pundits to think before they speak and maybe do some research before saying the first bit of shit that comes into their heads.

Good for Leeds.

Ive publicly supported Leeds for this, I just wish we’d Fcking do it.

I wish we’d hand press conferences over to people good at arguing, quick witted & let Pep get on with the football.

Probably not appropriate for an official Twitter page but I think they’re absolutely spot on, non red shirt teams like us and Leeds are fed up of slander by pundits. No pundit would say that about Liverpool’s title win. I think it’s sad it has now become interpreted as sexist and misogynist as surely it doesn’t matter whether it was a man or woman saying it. Surely saying you can only call out a male pundit suggests that a women can’t handle the stick they would get on social media which would be sexist. Unfortunately Leeds have given the red shirt media another stick to hit their rivals with.
When official Twitter pages of Sky, BT & BBC talk shit then it’s the only way to engage with them.

Why?

It’s more transparent than 9 clubs conspiring and whispering in the back ground.

It’s more transparent than select journalists having a WhatsApp group to control the agenda.

It’s more transparent than Liverpool and United controlling sections of the media.

It’s more transparent than Slurgie banning journalists.

Wish we had balls like Leeds.

Sir Marcus feeding the Orphans of Manchester, or the new phenomena of a generation of kids with no grand parents and their support.
Don’t think he will be using his managers words as his campaigns key note

You have touched on something that has wound me up for a long time. The coverage of Rashford and Captain Tom is the crowning turd on the steaming pile of manure we endure on a daily basis. I try to avoid as much social media as I can. My only vices are here, YouTube and I have to have LinkedIn for work.
On the LinkedIn in site you will find low level, self promoting, horribly embarrassing “look at me” examples of the same thing. I met George leaving the train station. He was begging. I spoke to him and it turns out he’s a hero of Goose Green. So I bought him breakfast, a new suit and booked him into a Premier Inn. Work weren’t too bothered cause I own the business. Luckily I had my camera phone to capture the whole thing and share it with you on social media. Let’s all agree how great I am.
what happened to the reward being the act itself?

Exactly. The PR machine for St Marcus has done so well that you are made to feel churlish if you don't kiss his backside. Most decent people would agree with the work FareShare and other charities have done and continue to do. There are 200,000 charities in UK and they have had to adapt to the current situation as they cannot raise money by events etc and l have the greatest admiration for them all. Watching the ads on TV is often harrowing for me but there are thousands of volunteers dealing with the problems on the ground. As l said they have my deep admiration.
