I wasn’t but accept the drip theory to the likes of Murphy. Who are his paymasters, Sky?

I think, to me, its a big stretch that using the word big, instead of depth is a method, in relation to Manchester Citys football squad is an example racism against our owners. But thanks for explaining.
Hi mate, sorry to jump in but I notice you’ve stated a few times that you don’t read much of the stuff that other City fans do and, by the above, don’t actually know who employs Murphy. If you aren’t aware of who is talking about what, and where, and don’t read too much of the rest, how can you form an opinion without actually seeing it?

This is not me trying to undermine your opinion, I just don’t understand how you can argue so fervently when you don’t actually know who has said what.

I’m gutted to see this old chestnut regurgitated. Our owners have done nothing but good things for our club; for Manchester and for football in general.

I’ve emailed the club to ask why such articles continually go unchallenged

It might help if we all asked the club to explain. I know we can’t sue every paper as it would be an endless task but enough is enough
Correct come out fighting show the commitment and pride that has taken us from the 3rd tier to where we are now

Hi mate, no fair question.

I do see a lot of the stuff, by virtue of seeing it on here, whatsapp football groups and have a subscription to the Athletic, BT Sport and watch Sky via Sky Go. But you are correct I would not follow Delaney, Harris etc on twitter.

I was actually supposed to write Talksport with regards to Danny Murphy as I listen to him on that throughout the week (job involves driving to inspections) and forgot his role at the BBC even though I watch 95 percent of televised matches and his punditry.

I doubt anyone sees everything, but would consider myself as well qualified, as most, to form an opinion as my life does, to an extent, revolve around football.

No it was Maureen when at United. He used it before an upcoming game against us. He wanted to effectively take Fernandinho out of the game.
The pundits knew all teams did it, but chose to only highlight us doing it.

Yep it went nuclear after Maureen raised it pre the OT derby in December 17/18. This was the one when we went 11 points clear if we won and only 5 points if the rags won. Neville ran with it in the build-up to the game and, IIRC also featureed it in MNF. One irony was that Neville could see United beating us because of our vulnerability to set pieces/corners as we were small and they were a maureen team - ha ha we scored from a corner and a set piece :)

It blew up after then because, well, we were a high pressing team and we broke counters with fouls probably more than any other team.(A later vg BBC article, not an agenda one, showed Liverpool were effectively at same number as us..it didn't get the same traction surprise surprise) .

The term "tactical fouls" had been around years. Klopp (hypocrite as usual) wasn't a fan and said this well before it blew up with Maureen and Neville

Thanks for the response. If, as you say, you spend a lot of time listening to TalkSport, as I do, how can you not form an opinion of bias to certain clubs and an agenda to others, not just City?

I made a short trip in the car the other day and was interested to hear that Darren Bent had interviewed Jack Harrison. I thought I’d wait to listen in and it turned out to be a very open and honest interview where Harrison came across very well. However, what was noticeable was any mention of his parent club or even a question of whether Jack would be aiming to come back and fight for the first team. There was mention of Liverpool and United (within context) but you’d have thought that Bent would ask the big question of ‘Have you got the confidence to fight for a place at City?’.

Like quite a bit on TalkSport, it is very United/Liverpool orientated, to be expected of a commercial enterprise, but it’s quite obvious that they use City as a vehicle to drive ‘hate’ clicks from those we now compete against.

I think squad depth does get used also and I am not sure the likes of Danny Murphy etc have an english degree. The majority of football fans know of squad sizes so fully understand the point being made.

To jump to a conclusion of racism from choosing to use the word ‘big’ instead of ‘depth’ to describe a football squad is a leap to far for me, but pretty much supports, in my opinion, my views that there are some extreme views in relation to the media thread
The problem is some football fans understand squad but without being condescending maybe a lot of the rest of the worlds fans don’t understand that and possibly English is not their first language so things get twisted maybe deliberately??

This narrative being City are cheats and bend the rules.

We cheated by buying top class players with our owner’s money, so that was changed.

We cheated our way into the CL with these players and so FFP was brought in.

We cheated by winning the league by goal difference only and it should have been shared.

We cheated whilst in the CL and so had a ridiculous fine and squad reduction, after the rules had been change again.

We cheated by paying our manager and players with under the table contracts, but still proof has yet to be provided.

Our computer systems were hacked by a crook yet we were the ones put in the dock by UEFA and their cronies, subsequently fined again and an outrageous ban for two years.

We prove our innocence in an independent arbitration and we are accused of cheating the system and the independent judges being paid by us.

We are accused of being unprofessional when we treat lower opposition with respect.

Our players are routinely hacked without anyone batting an eye lid, but if one of ours happens to tackle someone he’s booked.

The latest accusations are that we don’t ‘play in the spirit of the game’. Even though our players, mostly, act as model professionals, treat the opposition with respect and rarely get involved in on field argy-bargy.

Furthermore we are, without a shadow of a doubt, reffed differently to virtually every other team on the planet. Penalties given for accidental handball, offside only applying to us, perfectly good goals disallowed, opposition players not red carded etc etc.

We are made out to be the villan as our owner tries to keep his head above the real cheats in the game.
If I give you a few clef notes please can you write my next board proposal?
