Media Thread 2020/21

So it's clear then. Covid has been a conspiracy engineered just for this end.

By forcing people to stay at home and not be allowed to do anything else, they maxed out the number of bums on sofas who would watch it.

The powers that be are getting increasingly desperate to keep their golden boys at the top.

Vicky Kloss with a Cambridge degree and 20 years in the job should have the intelligence and know how to deal with the media. As a director she will be taking a few bob home each month. Mancini had a go at the way she not only failed to suppress the stories just before a cup final about him getting the push but also at the poor image we were getting generally and as reigning champions during the whole season that was just finishing.
Press briefings are farcical. I cannot imagine any other clubs allowing reporter to make an allegation about a manager taking a bung and get away with it - in the eyes of the world. Another made an awful remark about Silva's son - they all chance these remarks because they get away with it.
We should be more proactive and positive - we always seem like a boxer on the back foot with hands dropped and getting a walloping.
I too avoid the media to and get a digest of what's happening on here and am thankfully selective too. I would never dream of criticising City fans for showing their support or supporting those who call blues defending the club 'fanny wipes'.
I agree Mike.....we should at least throw one punch in our defence or we'll just get battered! No better way to stop a bully by a smack in the mouth or a kick in the nuts!

Good analogy. We’re rope-a-doping them, hoping they’ll tire of printing their nonsensical articles about us.

Long term, this might just work ;)
As long as we don't get knocked out. Or throw in the towel used by the Cheltenham skipper;)

Man City: Diego Costa would win title for Pep Guardiola's side - Micah Richards analysis

By adopting that mooted solution from Blackadder 'Bells' of injuring every other player so that we are the only ones left standing and win by default?

Or a head butt as done by Dennis Tueart many years ago.
Seriously you are dead right about bullying. Stand up against one and the rest will be less keen.
I would have thought the tweet about City's directors 'butchering children'would have been a good starter for ten in the High Court.

Yes the usual Liverpool excuse of injuries are mentioned but they are also described as "strangely flat" and "the spark has been missing too often in the last few weeks".

To be fair, in City's report card it also says "looking very ominous as they lie in second place" and "a squad and team that has that title look". Even the form of the "wonderfully rejuvenated John Stones" is acknowledged.

"Might have done better in the first half of the season" is probably true, I wish we had done better.....but you omitted the last part of the sentence which says "but now look the team to beat in the title race".

I hate the BBC output as much as anyone but for once I thought the summary of us was OK. Some of the stuff written about the other teams was complete bollocks....but then I don't support those other teams, so I don't really care.
I get what you mean however, Might have done better is a dig. Every team "might have done better". Essentially we dropped 6 pts to 3rd and 5th place and had 2 poor draws. The rest of the season has been a resounding success so far. And all without our record goalscorer...which is completely ignored.

Blimey that takes me back....I was in the Kippax that day...was it a cup game? Think his name was Potter...went down quicker than Salah! Seem to remember we scored 6!

How do they know how many people watch it ?

When you turn your tv on does it somehow tell the bbc/sky etc that you have turned in ? How do they know how many people in my house are watching it ?
How are viewing figures worked out, I dont like the idea that my tv is telling some big brother what I am watching. It would be very embarrassing for me if it leaked out that I like to watch 'Midsomer Murders'
It's like that tv 'advert' when they are sat in a bbc detector van and one of the dodgy ones says 'And they're watching Columbo''
What a pile of propaganda horseshit, I may as well spray paint bbc detector van on my fucking wheelbarrow.

I think the specific examples you quote are indeed actionable, I have no idea how far after the event the club took them. I do wish Pep had stood up and tested the bastard, or at least said get the fuck out and don’t cone back.

My comment was more to do with the daily press and the click bait drive. We need to be realistic, that only changes in terms of good press when we generate adequate click bait.
It’s understandable even if ‘unpalatable’.

Whilst the club continue to move forward the media bile makes no difference to me. As I said, just ignore it, too old to raise my blood pressure over it

I would add, I used to enjoy reading about any football pre-takeover
