Is anyone really surprised by jotas suspected handball not being dutifully reviewed when the prospect of a dipper debut goal is at stake. Proving what mastery the club has in its signings ability, they also lauded thiago vs chelsea last week, even though his biggest input was giving a penalty away. The tv companies that now literally own football have sold their 4/5 clubs to the unwitting public since they created the pl nearly 30 years ago, and helped keep them at the top too with the tv backed prize money for rehashed tournaments with more games( it takes 96 games to knock out 16 teams from the cl group stages, and 8 go into the euro/lge, just incase one of the "big" clubs have a bad group performance).Add to this the talk of history, youth, legends blah blah. The modern versions of those chosen clubs are practically products created by sky etc to make money, sky want the most popular clubs in the biggest games, and by christ have they tried to achieve that, successfully too in the most part. Here in the pl other teams have come and gone(blackburn, leeds etc), but none have got in amongst skys babies like we have, at first we were not taken seriously, them thinking our owner would "get bored etc",but as time has gone on the success of our footballing product has overtaken some of their "products" and for a while I think they have actively involved themselves in discrediting us whenever the opportunity has arisen.Think slagging off our signings, ridiculing our supposed lack of history, the constant negative statistics and anti City rhetoric during games, general City bingo and siding with foreign teams in european ties, the opening of hys articles just to let people(probs themselves) slag us off, etc. It all adds up, and over the pas 10/12 years there has been a lot of hate against us, even personally, people on the periphery of my social life have had a go at me about us,armed with some of the nonsense quoted in the various media outlets, it does have an effect.Sadly now, and maybe for a while it seems to have filtered through to footballs various governing bodies, they also want specific ends met, a strong man utd, new pl winners etc, after all the tv companies have to be satisfied or else. Hate newcastle now, and they are an example of what I am talking about, being "turned" by peer pressure to oppose us, but it would have been interesting to see the reaction if their takeover had been successful. Lol, they soon had that idea squashed lest they become a force like us. At the end of the day, we are here at the forefront whether they like it or not, and despite them we have been the best team over the last 10 yrs or so,under the above circumstances that is quite an achievement, and long may it continue. Sorry for such a long post, but once I started I couldnt stop.
