Don't worry you can watch Sir Marcus on the BBC tonight, for more red flag waving

Just seen this advertised on their iplayer bbc1 page........marcus rashford(in big letters) feeding britains children(in small letters underneath).

Now, raising the awareness of such a worthy issue is very commendable, he does seem a likeable down to earth lad(away from the football pitch) and it isnt his fault that the bbc seems to deem his name more important than the issue at hand, but that is how it appears.

The more cynical observers (including myself) could easily be suspicious that a bbc desperate for some kudos have jumped straight into bed with this whole thing and are touting the more commercial aspect (rashford) ahead of the whole point of his actions(feeding kids).

Kinda shows the bbc up for what I suspect they are.

Agree entirely, Mike. I am a supporter of the BBC in general (especially Radio4 and the World Service) but like others who've posted here, I find the coverage of sport, particularly football and even more particularly City, to be tedious and partial these days.. far too chummy and 'all mates together, eh Wrighty?' for me, while some of the so-called news reporting about sport is vacuous to say the least.

Most of the time I ignore its football output, just tuning in MOTD/2 to watch us. I get what I need to know about City from Bluemoon or the City website or by picking up on the likes of Martin Samuel via the filter of fellow Blues pointing out useful articles on here.

My rant this afternoon was in response to the few minutes at the fag-end of SPOTY last night that I sadly witnessed. I was glad that Lewis Hamilton won the individual award, if only to prevent myself going apoplectic had it been that plodder from The Anfield Road Brick Throwers' midfield getting it.. it was bad enough seeing him and the amazingly dentate Klopp appear to pick up the team award, which set me off no end comparing the Scouse love-in last night to how our Centurions were treated..

As others have pointed out, it's not just been us who had the raw end of it all down the years, it's other teams too, Forest being but one as I mentioned. And of course, we've had all the other rubbish thrown at us (FFP etc) for ages now, often orchestrated by the likes of Roan at the BBC sports desk. As our broadcaster of record, I'd expect more and better from the BBC's sports output as far as we're concerned, especially after the CAS judgement. But they and the rest of the sports media f*ckwits continue to set the mood music about City as with last night's dreadful SPOTY. To see that unfold barely 12 months after we'd had the Centurions and the Treble Winners snubbed in consecutive years just made me want to rip a tissue..! Anyway, Matron's been round with the trolley, so I'm much better now..c
Despite your protestations your you're uncannily like my mate with the same name who lives down the side of Stockport School. Perhaps after a while we all become pretty much the same as each other. At least we don't talk of our medical conditions.
For many years we would huddle around crackle boxes somewhere either very hot or very cold straining to catch the football results from the World Service. The BBC was our link with home, in some way it represented home and the playing of Lilli Bolero always lifted the spirits even on bad days.
So when I find myself criticising them l feel somewhat disloyal but there is no denying its bias. It is particularly irksome when the likes of Roan are actually deceitful ot the Complaints Department maintain their stance on Magliar's conviction status by failing to answer a question l put in capital letters so they couldn't miss it

It is ridulous that an organisation admired round the world becomes like it has in the sports department for the reasons we all know, which amount to 'we love Liverpool and United more than we like the truth and fair play'. They bury their collective heads in the sand over our achievements not realising they are just lettting others see their arses.
I didn't watch SPOTY last night and l have missed tonight's Glorification. How sad.never mind. I have more important worries and people to worry about than the St Marcus BBC roadshow.
The BBC are responding the excellent Scandi Noir series 'The Bridge'. Not their own work but pleasing content on BBC nevertheless.

Nearly died of shock tonight favourable coverage of the club on NWT. All about our initiative giving presents and meals to kids in East Manchester. A change from constant praise for St Marcus.

BBC hardly renowned for supporting the plight of vulnerable children. Surprised they haven’t headlined it as “Marcus will Fix it”

I gave St Marcus a miss but googled premier league corruption instead. Astonishingly Big Fat Corrupt Crooked Cvnt Allardyce n triffic 'Arrrrry Redknob came up pretty much immediately. Imagine my surprise!

The EPL's commercial contracts with partners are apparently full of non disclosure agreements. Anyone with a suspicious mind might think that blanket secrecy might be against good governance practices. You will be reassured to know that the EPL do have a Statement of Principles which says "Being objective, responsible and trustworthy." So that's nice.

Most European leagues are set up so that the same referees cannot officiate the same team more than twice. I'm surprised the stalwart chaps from PIGMOB reffing the richest league in the world have to do so many matches involving the same teams.....

Just noticed that someone else mentioned the unexpectedly positive view of our community work including Xmas. Six fingered Stokie Roger made a point of saying "many clubs do a lot don't they?"

The more things change, the more they stay the same:-)

Does anyone really give a shit about sports personality of the year?
I dont know anyone who has ever watched it.
Id rather nailed my hand to a table than sit through that, similar to the 7 and a half hour circle wank/build up to the chumps league draw every round
Stopped watching it about 20 years ago when there were no more bloopers from Murray Walker to enjoy.

even tyson fury had the wit to see through the bullshit of spoty, good on ya fellah

Just opened Google to see a headline from some American sports media called 'Fansided'
saying 'Messi does the unthinkable in favour of
Manchester City.'
Even if true I cannot imagine another club whose possible signing of the worlds best player is described as an unthinkable act by that player.
It's about time our club dropped the laissez faire attitude to the crap thrown at us.
Do you think the unthinkable might just that he’s Leaving Barcelona Mike?

Have massive respect for Tyson Fury even though he is a massive red. He was in a restaurant in Lytham having a meal at the same time as several younger members of my family including my terminally ill niece. Her brother approached him explained his seriously ill sister was with him and asked Tyson if he'd come and speak to her. He not only came to speak to Emily , he bought her drink posed for selfies with the family who told him they were blues and spoke to them for some time. He is no doubt pestered by fans constantly but I will be for ever grateful to him for the pleasure he gave a very poorly young girl. Emily is no longer with us but treasured the memory of the meeting along with her many trips to Wembley to see City win trophies. Thanks Tyson true Manc and real gentleman.

No agenda.

TBF to spit thats about right going on form and talent. I can't think of another City player that deserves to be in, although possibly Eric. That team would win quite a few trophies.

If god forbid the rags should mount a title challenge to the dippers how would the media play it ? Being fair and neutral is not something the BBC understands so which of the isstree clubs would they favour. The only good news at the end of such a competition one set of fans would be massively pissed off, as well as us.
